What are sweepstakes casinos?
To understand what you might find by way of bonuses and promo codes, you should make sure you understand how sweepstakes casinos work. Each site stands out in its own way, but they all have something in common. They all use two virtual currencies. They’re usually known as Gold Coins (GCs) and Sweeps Coins (SCs). That said, some sites have different names for them.
You’ll find the facts for each of those virtual currencies here to start you off. It’s good to remember that any bonus can bring you one or the other, and sometimes both virtual currencies. Always check any details you can see for bonus details.
You can play social games using GCs
Use your GCs to try new games and to find some favorites to return to. You can’t exchange your GCs for anything. They’re purely to help you have a good time and to become more familiar with the site you’re playing at.
You can also top up your account by purchasing more GCs, but it’s completely optional. GCs aren’t redeemable for prizes. You should view them just as a way to try some slots and other games.
You can play sweepstakes games using SCs
When you have some SCs from welcome bonuses and other sources, you can play sweepstakes games with them. If you collect enough SCs from play, you can go ahead and redeem them for real prizes. These can include gift cards or bank transfers, depending on the site. Note that you can never purchase any SCs from any source.
All sites have minimum playthrough requirements - often 1x. You’ll also need to reach the required number of eligible SCs before you can redeem them. Many sites have a 100 SC minimum, but some sites offer lower thresholds. That’s especially true if they offer gift card prizes. For example, you might need 50 eligible SCs to redeem them for a gift card, but 100 SCs for a bank transfer.
What are sweepstakes casino promo codes?
A promo code can get you a bonus. This might be a bigger bonus than usual, like a bigger welcome bonus. For example, you cannot get a sweepstakes casino no deposit bonus, as they’re never offered by these sites. However, you may get more GCs and/or SCs if you use a code when you join.
Put simply, a code unlocks an offer you would not otherwise be able to get. Sweepstakes casinos offer many bonuses. You can find the most common ones in the next section.
Listing the most common bonuses for sweepstakes casinos
You’ll find some creative bonuses at these sites. Most have one or more, but the variety changes from one site to the next. Check the range of most likely possibilities here.
Welcome/signup bonus
You get this for opening an account at the sweepstakes casino. You usually get GCs and one or two SCs. Some sites are more generous than others. It’s rare that you won’t get any SCs. Expect to verify your email to get into your account. Some sites ask for phone verification too.
Daily bonus
Most sweepstakes casinos use these. You’ll find several versions of the daily login bonus sweepstakes casino option depending on which site you’re visiting. The table here presents you with the basic options you’re most likely to see.
VIP bonuses
These are reserved for VIP members. If a sweepstakes casino has a VIP or loyalty program, you sometimes get access to the lowest level when you join. Alternatively, you’ll need to collect enough XP points to reach that level.
Bonuses tend to get better the higher you go in the program. You may get bigger bonuses. Alternatively, you might get more variety. For example, birthday gifts might arrive when you reach the upper levels.
Social media bonuses
These are unique offers released via Instagram and Facebook. Some are granted as competition prizes, but there are usually a few to offer. Alternatively, you might see bonus codes suited to optional GC purchases. For example, get a GC bundle using a code and receive some SCs for free as well.
Bonus drop codes
These are time-limited and not offered by all sweepstakes casinos. Stake.us is one of the leading sweepstakes casinos that offers them. Those that do offer them may do so via social media. Some have specific channels just for drop codes.
Players claim these fast, as they’re often limited to a certain quantity. You may not know how many are available, though. Terms vary, so read them carefully. You may receive one or more SCs if you successfully claim an offer.
Refer-a-friend bonuses
Some sweepstakes casinos give you the chance to refer potential players to their sites. You’ll get a unique link or code to share with others in this case. This links signups to your account. They usually need to make an optional GC purchase reaching a certain amount to give you a bonus. This usually involves some GCs and SCs.
Mail-in SC bonuses
This is the most complex option you’ll see. However, you will find it at every site on the best sweepstakes casinos list offered here. While you don’t need a standard promo code to claim this bonus, you often need a unique code of six or 12 digits. You can get this from the sweepstakes casino once you’re logged in.
Each mailed request needs its own unique code. They often expire within 30 days, so make sure you don’t request a code until you are ready to send your request to the address given at the sweepstakes casino. You will usually receive anywhere from one to 5 SCs per request, but you have to follow the instructions down to the last letter.
GC bundle purchase bonuses
You don’t need to purchase GCs, but some players occasionally or regularly like to do so. You’ll find an on-site store containing packages of GCs to purchase if you’re interested. Bundles may have some free SC Coins included as well.
You won’t always need a promo code to get one of these GC bundles. However, it’s wise to look for them if you’re interested in making the odd GC purchase. You can sometimes get a special limited-time GC offer if you use a code when you get it.

How to find promo codes
Promo codes can appear in many places. The section below gives you the most likely places to find them. Once you know where to look, your searches should be faster in the future.
- Review the banners on this site: You may find some exclusive offers here. The Stake.us welcome promo code is a good example. You will see the offers that are suited to your area too. This means you’ll only see what’s relevant to you.
- Follow official social media channels: Look for links on the sweepstakes casino website you’re signing up to. There have been cases where people have set up fake pages to look like the real thing. Using official links is always safer. You’ll know you’re on the legit page. Following a sweepstakes casino on Instagram, Facebook, or X (or all of them) means you can join giveaways or competitions. These regularly have GCs and SCs available for those who successfully take part.
- Check your emails: When you join a sweepstakes casino, make sure you receive their emails. Whitelist their address to ensure you’ll get them in your inbox. It’s not uncommon to receive bonus codes or offers via that route. When signing up, look for a box to tick that says you’re happy to receive promotional emails from the site. This ensures you’ll get those emails. If you don’t tick it, you won’t be in line for any promo codes from that source.
- Keep track of the latest on-site promotions: There’s usually a promo page somewhere in the menu at each sweepstakes casino you join. A quick look there before you play anything will give you a chance to see whether there’s anything worth using. Some codes only work on certain days, too, so keep that in mind.
Promo code tips to make life easier
A quick check of the following points will help you find and use promo codes without issue. If you sign up at a sweepstakes casino that’s known for offering bonus codes, you’ll need to use these points regularly.
Check eligibility

Expiry date
How long is the promotion available for? Remember that bonus drop codes expire much faster than standard bonuses. However, you will usually find that the best social casinos offering them have an ongoing selection to share. You still need to be quick to claim them, as bonuses are usually limited.
Aside from that, once you claim a promotion, you may need to complete the terms attached to it within a certain time frame. For example, SCs have playthrough requirements. They’re often 1x, but some sites may ask you to play through your SCs more than this.
Check the terms
If you’re going to play at online casinos using the sweepstakes platform, don’t assume the terms for each bonus code will match. Some may have more specific rules you must meet. Below are some examples of terms you might occasionally spot:
- You can only play a named slot using your bonus
- For GC purchase offers, there could be a minimum GC purchase amount involved
