Don Best Bet Camp

Sports betting data supplier and touts service Don Best will begin hosting sports betting seminars in New Jersey next month for players seeking to up their sports betting game. Don Best Bet Camps will be held at Meadowlands Racetrack, home of FanDuel Sportsbook, in East Rutherford, New Jersey starting November 16th, 2018.

These one-day sports betting boot camps look to be intensive with multiple guest speakers and a wide-ranging curriculum covering topics as varied as finding value and timing wagers. Here’s how the Don Best Boot Camp website describes the experience:

“DonBestBetCamp is a one day, hands on experience that will be filled with live instruction, guest speakers and introduction to techniques and sports betting technology proprietary to Don Best Sports.”

Don Best Bet Camps are scheduled to get underway at 7 AM for a check-in, introduction and complimentary breakfast before sending players to their first workshop from 9 AM to 10:30 AM.

Attendees will get a break from 10:30 to 11:15, then get back to it for a full day of seminars, a lunch break, more seminars, a Q&A session, a dinner break and finally a “complimentary VIP cocktail party” to close out the long day at 9 PM.

According to the Don Best website, some of the topics of discussion will include:

  • How to find the best value and best times to place your wagers
  • How the vig changes point spread wagers
  • The pitfalls that await inexperienced bettors
  • How to analyze events and use “our proprietary, time-specific wagering strategies”
  • Which markets are best avoided and which we should focus on

First Reactions

The inaugural camp is still a month out, so we don’t have any word from insiders regarding the quality of instruction, but we’ll be keeping our eyes open. First mentions on Twitter have been met with mixed reactions – some good, most bad.

A good number of people on Twitter and especially on the SBR forums are highly skeptical, to say the least. We have to admit, we’ve always been skeptical ourselves when it comes to any periphery business that sells itself as a way to improve other peoples’ bottom line in gambling or sports betting.

As one Twitter user noted, most of the fortunes made during the gold rush were made by selling pick axes to the gold diggers. On the other hand, a lot of new people are about to be exposed to sports betting in the United States as legislation is introduced across the country. Services like these are bound to pop up and will prove useful to a certain segment of the population that would rather have someone explain the ins and outs in an orderly manner rather than poking around the internet for random tips and strategies.

We’re on the wait-and-see bandwagon ourselves. Don Best Sports has been involved in the sports betting industry for a long time, both as a customer-facing business selling data and picks, and on the business-to-business side supplying operators with data, lines and content. They have access to much more information than most casual bettors could ever find on their own, so it may provide some value to customers. Either way, we’ll find out soon enough.
