Facebook Fantasy Sports Prediction Games

Facebook Adds Fantasy Games

Facebook has once again expanded its social gaming options. On Wednesday, Facebook Fantasy Games went live in the United States and Canada, offering fun and social format for users to make predictions on upcoming sports events, television shows, and pop culture. Prediction games are popular among fantasy sports fans, but their introduction on Facebook introduces the format to a much broader user base.

What Type of Fantasy Games Does Facebook Offer?

Right now, the selections under the Fantasy Games tab on Facebook are limited. Facebook has rolled out Pick & Play Sports to start and will introduce games for TV shows and other sports over the upcoming months. Created with the help of Whistle Sports, Pick & Play Sports provides points to players who accurately predict the winners of upcoming games or correctly answer other questions such as player stat totals. As an avid Facebook user, I tested Pick & Play Sports to see what it is like. On September 3rd, one question asked who will win between the Seattle Seahawks and the San Francisco 49ers in their next game. I made my pick and chose Let’s Play to enter. After submitting my answer, Facebook took me the game lobby, where users can view the public leaderboard and additional Facebook prediction games.

Currently, there are several picks on offer for the MLB, NCAAF, MLS, and NFL. The options will change throughout the year based on the sports of the season. Picks are easy to make, and the leaderboards make it fun to compete with friends or other people from around the world.

Facebook plans to launch more Fantasy Games in the future based on television shows. Once Survivor starts up later this month on CBS, players can select a set of Castaways to be on their team. As players make predictions and earn points, they move up on the leaderboard and earn bragging rights. Facebook intends to post questions based on upcoming shows as new seasons begin.

More Facebook Fantasy Games Are Coming Soon

Players interested in the upcoming games launching on Facebook Fantasy Games can check out the “Games Coming Soon” section of the game page to learn more about future releases. There, Facebook lists which games will launch next, and users can select “Interested” to save the game for later.

This option is similar to users you select “Interested” on other Facebook events. In this case, Facebook saves the game for later, and once it is live, Facebook will send an alert. After users receive the alert, all they need to do is select the game to start playing.

Facebook plans to highlight major professional sports leagues and popular television shows with the Fantasy Games section. The Bachelorette is a popular ABC show that fans talk about on Facebook weekly. The Fantasy Sports section will highlight this show among others.

Fans of The Bachelorette can select from the men competing for Michelle Young’s affection this season to be on their team. Answer questions about the series as well to try and earn more points for the leaderboard challenge.

For MLB fans, the site plans to offer Home Run Picks during the post-season. Players can choose teams they feel will hit the most home runs for the day. Facebook awards points for correct picks, with extra points awarded for home runs that are hit late in the game.

If you want to check out the Fantasy Games section on Facebook, use your iOS or Android device. From your account, select the Menu tab and scroll down. If you do not see Fantasy Games select “See More” to get started.
