Golden Nugget Adds PlayPause Responsible Gambling Tool

This week, Conscious Gaming announced that Golden Nugget Online Gaming (GNOG) is now an official supporter of its innovative PlayPause responsible gambling tool. This multi-state product allows players to self-exclude from online gambling activities across the United States.

With the partnership, PlayPause will deploy in jurisdictions where Golden Nugget provides services, including Michigan and New Jersey. In the future, the tool will be offered in other states via the operator as Golden Nugget begins providing services in Illinois, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, and Virginia.

President of Golden Nugget, Thomas Winter, commented on PlayPause in a press release, stating: “It is our responsibility to maintain the highest standards for responsible gambling as we expand our iGaming across multiple states. PlayPause’s innovative, multi-state approach to responsible gambling is a smart solution at a perfect time so we, as an operator and an industry, can use the latest technology to provide online patrons with the safest and most robust options available.”

The innovative, responsible gambling tool offers several benefits.

First, it expands the level of protection for players from state to state. Consumers can choose to self-exclude across several states. This simple option helps players avoid crossing a state line to gamble when experiencing addiction or problem gambling.

There are also benefits for operators. PlayPause allows operators to build on existing responsible gambling programs. Among the insights PlayPause provides are identifying players who have self-excluded in one state and may need protection in another jurisdiction. Decision-making will be more data-driven with the tool’s help, ensuring operators can provide better protection for players.

PlayPause Is Steadily Gaining Momentum

PlayPause first launched in September 2020 and has steadily grown to offer responsible gambling services in various areas across the United States via several operators and regulators. PlayPause aims to strengthen the US’s responsible gambling programs by providing a modern solution. The tool was created by Conscious Gaming, an organization created by GeoComply.

BetMGM and Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board Partner with PlayPause

Just two months after Conscious Gaming launched PlayPause, BetMGM became a partner. GVC Holdings was the first official partner of the tool, launching the feature via its interest in MGM Resorts through BetMGM.

The parent company decided to adopt PlayPause via its Sustainability Charter. The company’s charter is committed to donating over $130 million within a five-year time frame to support responsible gambling in the United States and worldwide.

Just a few weeks later, the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board decided to team up with PlayPause. With this partnership, gamblers who sign up for a self-exclusion program in Pennsylvania can take part in PlayPause as well, extending their protection level to other states.

The PlayPause tool continues to gain ground in the United States as more operators and jurisdictions decide to utilize the tool for additional player protection.
