Hard Rock AC and Ocean Resort Casino Also Opened Last Week
New Jersey gained two new brick-and-mortar casinos last week as well. Hard Rock’s physical casino and Ocean Resort both held grand openings on Thursday to replace two shuttered casinos.
The Hard Rock takes over for the former Trump Taj Mahal after a $500 million renovation complete with a 60-foot-tall statue of the Hard Rock’s iconic guitar. Ocean Resort, meanwhile, is taking the place of the ill-fated Revel Casino that shut down in 2014. Both buildings underwent massive renovations ahead of their grand openings last week.
Hard Rock AC will be scheduling live entertainment 365 days a year, running a comedy club and nearly 20 other food and drink spots covering everything from fine dining to a Sugar Factory sweet shop. This is in addition to 2100 slot machines and 120 table games. Hard Rock officials also stated they plan to open a sportsbook but have not yet issued a firm timeline on that.
Ocean Resort Casino now occupies the tallest building in Atlantic City with nearly 1400 rooms, 18 dining options, more than 2100 slot machines, 120 table games and a functional sportsbook run by William Hill. Ocean Resort does not yet have an online presence, but the website does state they have an online casino opening soon.
