Which States Is Bally Bet Legal in?

Bally’s Corporation now operates 12 casinos across eight states and is expanding rapidly as the new face of Twin Rivers. In addition, the purchase paved the way for Bally Bet to enter the sports betting market as one of the latest US-owned and operated sportsbooks.

Today, Bally Bet Sportsbook operates in the following states:

In addition, Bally Bet plans to enter the New Jersey online sports betting market, where it already operates a retail sportsbook at Bally’s Atlantic City. Bally Bet also has ties to casinos in Louisiana, and Illinois, making it highly likely that it will expand to those markets.

Bally Bet has significantly pared back its promotional offerings for new customers in most states, but bettors can take advantage of small but frequent promos for existing customers. The latest Bally Bet welcome bonus is smaller than most but offers the advantage of a high reward-to-risk ratio.

All new customers who register, deposit, and place a first bet of $50 or more on any sport receive four bonus bet tokens worth $50 each. In short, bettors get $200 worth of bonus bets for placing a first wager of at least $50.

Important offer terms:

  • First bet must bet at minimum odds of -200 (e.g., wagers at -200, -110, +200, +300, +400 qualify)
  • First bet must settle within 14 days
  • Bonus bet tokens expire seven days after receipt

There is no Bally Bet promo code required to take advantage of this offer.

How to Register With Bally Bet

Bettors who have registered with any other online sportsbook will already be familiar with the Bally Bet registration process. Those who haven’t should still find it relatively straightforward:

  1. If on mobile, you will be prompted to download the Bally Bet app from either Google Play or the App Store.
  2. Select your state.
  3. Click register, located on the upper-right-hand portion of the screen.
  4. On the first screen, enter a username, password, and email address.
  5. Next, you’ll be asked to input details like your full name, date of birth, phone number, and the last four digits of your SSN.
  6. Finally, you’ll need to enter your full address.
  7. Provide the answers to two security questions, and tick off the T&C boxes.

Bettors must be 21 years of age to register with Bally Bet and agree not to let anyone else use their account. Bettors do not have to live in the same state from where they are registering. However, customers must be physically present in any state where Bally Bet is licensed to place real-money wagers.

Bally Bet Deposit Options

Bank Transfer Credit Cards Debit Cards Play+ Wire Transfer

Bally Bet launched with a very limited number of sports betting deposit methods and hasn’t expanded the lineup since. Bally Bet will have difficulty competing with some of its bigger competitors if it doesn’t introduce new deposit methods, such as Apple Pay and PayPal.

For now, users can fund their Bally Bet accounts via several methods, including credit cards, debit cards, and bank transfers. The full array of deposit options includes:

  • Credit and debit cards
  • Bally Bet Play+ Card
  • Instant Bank Transfer

Bally Bet accepts a minimum deposit of $10 and a maximum of $2,000 per transaction. Players can withdraw via Instant Bank Transfer and their Bally Bet Play+ account.

Bally Bet Loyalty Program

The Bally Bet loyalty program offers points to customers for placing wagers online. As users earn points, they can redeem them online for free bets or cash and at Bally’s properties nationwide for gambling, dining, merchandise, and more.

Customers earn points for betting online and at any Bally’s location according to the following chart:

Bally Bet Loyalty Program Earn Rates

Bally Bet RewardsTier Points
Straight Wagers1 point per $2
Teasers2 points per $2
Parlay1 point per $2 X teams selected (max 10)
Progressive Parlays1 point per $2

Upon first glance, the parlay earn rate is a bit confusing. For each $2 wagered, bettors earn an additional point per parlay leg added. As an example, if a bettor wagered $10 on a 5-leg parlay they would earn 5 points for every $2, for a total of 25 points.

The point redemption rates are 2,000 per $1 in free play or 4,000 points per $1 in cash at a Bally’s retail property. Truthfully, that’s a pretty lousy exchange rate, as bettors would have to wager $4,000 on straights, $2,000 on teasers, and so forth to earn just $1 in bonus bets.

Bally Bet also offers a VIP program but the details on how to gain entry into the program are vague. VIPs earn exclusive offers, both in-person and online, as well as dedicated customer support. Bettors that have attained a high loyalty level at another sportsbook can contact Bally Bet’s VIP onboarding team to try and gain instant VIP status.

Bally Bet Sports Betting Review

BallyBet.com launched in the US as a fully functional sportsbook, but it is still a work in progress. As Bally’s Corporation noted on launch day, the app will gain additional enhancements, refinements, and features over time.

However, Bally Bet did launch on day one with very competitive betting lines. For example, Bally Bet Sportsbook offered 20-cent lines across the board on an upcoming slate of baseball games while other sports betting apps such as DraftKings featured 20-cent, 25-cent, and 30-cent lines.

If Bally Bet continues to provide generous betting lines and improves its app, it will be a serious contender in a crowded sports betting market. However, that’s a big “if.” Bally Bet is a capable online sportsbook, but it does little to stand out from the crowd beyond beating some sportsbooks’ odds in some markets. Bally Bet still has some work to do to become a competitive online sportsbook in the USA.

Bally Bet Sports Betting Markets

Bally Bet Sportsbook offers betting on all the world’s major professional and college sports, but there is room for improvement in market depth. Overall, the Bally Bet app provides an adequate sports betting experience but not as many options as some of its competitors.

However, Bally’s Corporation says it plans to expand its betting options as it establishes itself in the US market. Currently, users can choose from the following sports at Bally Bet:

  • Aussie rules
  • Baseball
  • Basketball
  • Football
  • Golf
  • Hockey
  • Mixed martial arts
  • Motor Sports
  • Olympics
  • Rodeo
  • Rugby
  • Soccer
  • Softball
  • Table Tennis
  • Tennis

The number of betting markets available for each event varies based on its popularity. Bally Bet Sportsbook provides up to 70 markets for high-profile US sports and fewer for less-viewed niche sports.

For comparison’s sake, other online sportsbooks provide upwards of 300 betting markets for the most popular games. Bally Bet has some catching up to do, but it does cover all the basics such as moneylines, point spreads, totals, in-play betting, player props, and game props.

Bally Bet Sports Betting App

The Bally Bet app is simple and efficient. Users can visit BallyBet.com from any mobile device to download the official app for iOS or Android.

In short, bettors can expect a straightforward interface that provides quick links to each sport in the left navigation menu, a list of betting markets in the middle of the screen, and access to more options near the bottom.

Placing a wager is a simple matter of tapping the odds displayed next to any market and inputting an amount. Bettors can create custom parlays by adding two or more bets to the slip and visiting the parlay tab to customize the wager.

Customers can also use the app to manage their accounts, make deposits, and view outstanding wagers.

In its current form, the Bally Bet app neither wows nor disappoints. It’s a workhorse that shows users the odds, accepts their wagers, and not much more. However, company insiders say additional functionality is coming, including “integrated social features.”

Previously, the Bally Bet mobile app operated on propriety technology courtesy of the company’s purchase of Bet.Works in November 2020 for $125 million. However, the sizable investment failed to yield significant gains.

As a result, Bally Bet scrapped Bet.Works, temporarily paused operations in some states, and relaunched with software from experienced third-party odds/tech provider Kambi. The partnership immediately improved Bally Bet from functional and design perspectives, but Bally Bet still struggles to differentiate itself from the many competing sportsbooks it faces in the US market.

Bally Bet In-Play Betting

Bally Bet provides a standard in-play betting experience. Users can visit the in-play tab to view all games that are either running right now or soon will be.

Visiting any game’s in-play page brings users to a simple interface where they can place live bets during the game with real-time odds updates throughout. The in-play betting interface works well enough, but it doesn’t offer anything unique or exceptional compared to many other online sportsbooks.

That said, the current Bally Bet in-play betting interface is a major step up over the version it debuted when it initially launched in 2021. Switching to Kambi’s technology has significantly improved Bally Bet’s in-play betting interface, expanded the types of live bets customers may place, and added more streaming data.

Bally Bet Sports Betting Promotions

In addition to the welcome bonus, users can claim ongoing promotions and participate in a loyalty program for year-round rewards.

Bally Bet hosts regular promotions, including special offers tailored to games involving customers’ in-state teams. In addition, the Bally Bet loyalty program provides ongoing rewards throughout the year.

Below is a non-exhaustive review of recent Bally Bet promotions. The lineup changes often and may differ from one state to the next:

  • Game of the Week: Bettors can place a $50 bet on a specific game(s) and earn a $25 bonus bet to use during the game. The selected games are typically on local betting markets.
  • Happy Hours: Enjoy reduced juice on select markets during specific times of the week. For instance, Bally Bet may drop the VIG on NFL games from -110 to an appealing -105.
  • Unlock Trophies, Earn Rewards: Bally Bet features over 70 progression trophies that customers can earn by placing wagers. As users earn trophies, they unlock rewards such as bonus bets. For example, users who win five wagers in a row receive a Streaking Star trophy and a $10 bet credit.

Trophies are one area where Bally Bet truly innovates, utilizing an achievement system that actually rewards sports bettors for winning. This stands in stark contrast to other promotional vehicles, that either award bettors regardless of the result or only if they lose.

Other promos include parlay insurance, bet & get, and boosts — all pretty standard fare relative to promos found at other sportsbooks.

Bally Bet States of Operation

All signs point to Bally Bet moving aggressively to become a national sports betting brand. Bally’s Corporation operates more than a dozen properties when including pending sales, and a handful of states where it owns casinos already have legal online sports betting.

Bally Bet can also form partnerships with other casino operators in states where its parent company lacks a land-based presence. Additionally, Bally’s agreement with the Sinclair Broadcast Group to rebrand 21 FOX regional sports networks under the Bally’s brand provides further marketing reach.

Here’s how BettingUSA’s Steve Ruddock put it in a post discussing Bally’s future:

The casino rebrands, and the deal with Sinclair will provide the withered Bally’s brand with an opportunity to have a baby Groot-like rebirth thanks to Twin River’s wheeling and dealing.

In the span of a month, the Bally’s name went from adorning the side of a couple of third-tier casinos in Las Vegas and Atlantic City to a national company with as many as 14 casino properties and a racetrack in ten states (pending sales) and branded television networks in 21 markets.

The closing provides Bally’s with the potential to capitalize on several lucrative sports betting opportunities, which we expect will drive revenue and cash flow growth. We are pleased to welcome Jumer’s into the Bally’s family and look forward to leveraging our expertise to enhance the property’s operations.

In an earlier press release, Bally’s Corporation revealed a little about its strategy and approach to mobile betting in the USA

The company generally prefers to enter a jurisdiction through an owned casino property, however, with how quickly the market is moving, entering through a market access agreement is a good solution and one that the company may use on occasion to ensure a comprehensive approach.

  • Land-Based Partner: Boot Hill Casino

Bally’s Corporation secured its place in the Kansas sports betting market through a partnership with Boot Hill Casino, which it announced in June 2021. Bally Bet secured the deal in anticipation of Kansas legalizing sports betting, even before lawmakers passed the needed legislation.

  • Land-Based Partner: Bally’s Atlantic City

Bally Bet received a Tennessee sports betting license in March 2022 ahead of its plans to offer online sports betting. In anticipation of its Tennessee launch, Bally’s Corporation reached a marketing agreement with the NHL’s Nashville Predators to become the team’s official sports betting partner.

  • Products: Online sports betting

Bally’s Corporation received a VA sports betting license in March 2021 and launched that November. In a statement following the licensure approval, Bally’s President and CEO George Papanier said this:

Bally’s is pleased to receive the temporary sports wagering permit from the Virginia Lottery. This represents another step in our evolution to become the leading omnichannel gaming provider in the U.S., and we look forward to providing a first-class experience for sports fans across Virginia.

The Bally Bet story began when Bally Corporation (previously Twin River Worldwide Holdings) completed its acquisition of sports betting platform provider Bet.Works in June 2021. The $125 million acquisition was part of a larger strategy to revitalize the struggling Bally’s brand.

Bet.Works provided the in-house tech platform for Bally Corp’s online sports betting arm, Bally Bet. However, the platform proved to be inadequately equipped to handle the demands of modern bookkeeping.

In a Q4 2022 earnings call report, new Bally Corporation CEO Robeson Reeves flat out admitted that the Bet.Works acquisition was a mistake and the company would seek third-party leasing options.

The Bet.Works disaster and the acquisition of failed DFS site Monkey Knife Fight, which closed down in February 2023, resulted in a $390.7 million non-cash impairment charge, as detailed in the company’s Q4 2022 earnings report.

Within days of its initial launch, it became clear to industry observers that Bally Bet would struggle to secure market share in the hypercompetitive online sports betting industry.

Lackluster software and zero differentiators made it tough for Bally Bet to convince new customers to choose it over established online sportsbook brands like BetMGM, DraftKings, and FanDuel.

In May 2023, Bally’s entered into an exclusive multi-year partnership with well-known sports betting tech provider Kambi Group and platform provider White Hat. The transition forced Bally Bet to shutter operations for several months until it could integrate the new tech, platform, and loyalty program.

The new Bally Bet reopened in September 2023, featuring improved software and a significantly refined mobile app experience. However, Kambi already provides the tech for many well-known sportsbooks, including betPARX and BetRivers. Given this, it remains an open question if Kambi will help Bally Bet differentiate itself from the competition.

Bally Bet FAQ

Users must be a minimum of 21 years old to register and place real-money wagers with Bally Bet.

Bally Bet customers can only place real-money wagers in a state where the operator has a sports betting license. However, bettors can conduct other operations from out of state, including deposits, withdrawals, and account management. They can also check out the latest lines and promotions from just about anywhere.

Yes. Bettors only have to download the Bally Bet app once.

Oddly, yes. Although there is only one Bally Bet app, bettors need to create a new account for each market. So, if a bettor has an account in Colorado, and wants to place wagers from Virginia, they must first create a Bally Bet VA account.

Note, bettors cannot register the same username twice. However, they can register with the same email address in different markets.

Not yet. Most other sportsbooks do reward bettors that refer their friends, so Bally Bet is lagging a bit here.

International software provider Kambi supplies the sports betting technology for Bally Bet.

Bally Bet’s sister site, BallyCasino.com, offers online casino games in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Players can see BettingUSA’s Bally Casino review for all the details.

Expert Opinion: Is Bally Bet Legit?

As the online betting extension of Bally’s Corporation, Bally Bet is a legitimate online sportsbook that holds licenses in every state where it operates.

Bally Bet is safe and reputable, but it has some work to do if it wishes to compete with the nation’s other major operators. The dated interface and limited market depth may turn off some bettors, but its promotional lineup improves by the day and provides enough value to make Bally Bet worth keeping in mind.
