The good news for customers who enjoyed the snake-style daily fantasy formats offered by DRAFT is FanDuel plans to integrate those types of contests into the FanDuel platform.
In a notice published today, FanDuel explains:
As 2019 comes to a close, we wanted to let you know about some changes happening to DRAFT in the new year. We’re planning on building the best of DRAFT into FanDuel after the 2019 NFL regular season. We’re doing this to bring the awesome DRAFT formats to our FanDuel users, meaning bigger and better contests than ever before for everyone.
DRAFT will continue hosting fantasy contests until December 30th (Monday). No new contests will be held after Monday, but any outstanding contests will be scored and winners paid as normal.
After that point, DRAFT users will be given the option to merge their accounts into FanDuel.
- If you already have a FanDuel account: You will be given instructions to merge your DRAFT account to your FanDuel account.
- If you do not already have a FanDuel account: Visit FanDuel.com to sign up for an account and then you will be able to merge your existing DRAFT account into your new FanDuel account.
All account balances will transfer over to FanDuel as well. FanDuel has not provided a hard timeline for when DRAFT-style contests will be integrated into the platform. The notice only explains those types of contests will be announced after the end of the 2019 NFL season.
10% Transfer Bonus for DRAFT Customers
FanDuel is offering a 10% transfer bonus as an incentive for DRAFT customers to make the switch. If you merge your DRAFT account into a new or existing FanDuel account, you’ll get an extra 10% bonus worth up to $500.
The bonus funds will not be withdrawable, but any money won in contests entered using bonus funds will be cleared for withdrawal.
Consolidating the FanDuel Brand Under Flutter Entertainment
DRAFT and FanDuel both operate under the Flutter Entertainment brand (formerly known as Paddy Power Betfair). DRAFT was purchased by Paddy Power Betfair in 2017 while FanDuel and Betfair US merged their US operations in 2018.
Paddy Power Betfair rebranded as Flutter Entertainment in 2019 and will continue operating FanDuel as its primary US-facing daily fantasy and sports betting brand moving forward.
If FanDuel keeps its promise to launch DRAFT-style contests in 2020, the merger could be good news for DRAFT users. FanDuel’s massive player database paves the way for much larger snake contests with bigger prizes on offer.
