Hard Rock has unveiled a reimagined sports betting and casino app, and along with it an exciting and multifaceted loyalty program. Customers 21 years and older who register with Hard Rock Bet or Hard Rock Online Casino are automatically enrolled in Loyalty Rewards and will start earning tier status and points on every real-money wager placed.

The new program takes a page out of BetRivers’ highly praised iRush Rewards, in that it’s flashy, diversified, and adds elements of fun to the otherwise mundane act of redeeming points. It also implements a rolling tiered system, that provides the most benefit to players that regularly place wagers on Hard Rock Bet.

However, the reward point calculations feel needlessly complicated, and the redemption rates have something to be desired. These drawbacks are largely offset by the program’s top-end perks, but reaching and maintaining a higher tier will take hard work.

How Hard Rock Bet Loyalty Rewards Works

• All Hard Rock Bet customers are automatically enrolled
• Customers earn Tier Credits and Rewards Points on all sports wagers and casino bets (where applicable).
• Tier Credits apply toward a player’s Tier Level, which determines their Rewards Points multiplier and the benefits they will receive.
• There are six tiers: Member, Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, and the invite-only Diamond
• Rewards Points can be redeemed in the Rewards Store for bonus bets, cash, casino bonuses, free spins, and Mystery Wheel Spins with randomized prizes up to $5,000. There’s even an option to redeem points for a Telsa Model Y.

Loyalty Rewards is available in every sports betting market that Hard Rock Bet serves, including Arizona, Indiana, New Jersey, Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia, with more states on the way. The casino app is only available in New Jersey.

A player’s Tier Level is determined by their action over the past 30 days, exclusively. This is important to note, because most bettors are used to rewards programs where they retain their status for the duration of the calendar month it was achieved, and the following calendar month. Other programs, like DraftKings’ Dynasty Rewards, allow players to keep their status for an entire calendar year.

The closest comparison is iRush Rewards, which calculates a player’s Loyalty Level on a rolling 60-day cycle. iRush members hold on to all their points earned within 30 days and see them slowly depreciate from days 31-60. Comparatively, Hard Rock’s program is a bit more restrictive, because any Tier Credits earned more than 30 days ago lose all value.

How To Earn Hard Rock Bet Tier Credits

With each wager, Hard Rock Bet players earn Tier Credits, but the exact amount varies based on the type of bet.

It’s become common practice for sportsbooks to award more Tier Credits to players that place parlay bets, especially parlays with 3+ legs. This is largely because parlays have a much higher house edge than straight bets.

Hard Rock Bet adopts a similar approach, but it’s far more flexible. Here are a few examples of Tier Credit (TC) earning rates:

Notice that bettors don’t have to bet parlays to get better rates, they just have to place bets at longer odds. Since there are plenty of low-margin straight bets offered at +400 odds or longer, betting them will be the most cost-effective way to climb the ranks.

Earning Tier Credits at Hard Rock Bet Casino

The casino earning rates are more in line with industry standards; players earn more TCs for games with low returns, and fewer TCs for games with high RTPs:

From that point the requirements skyrocket, and only the most dedicated players will ever hit Platinum or the elusive invite-only Diamond tier.

Again, the best way for sports bettors to navigate the system is by betting long shots. A bettor that places wagers at around +400 will only have to generate 1/6th the betting handle to reach the same tier as someone who bets moderate-to-heavy favorites exclusively.

Note: Assuming a 4.5% house edge, +400 odds bettors will have a theoretical loss of approximately $3,000 upon reaching Platinum. They can trim this amount drastically by line shopping for the very best odds and taking advantage of promotions.

Wild Card Rewards is the loyalty system implemented by Hard Rock Atlantic City. Like Loyalty Rewards, it’s a multi-tiered program that rewards players with kickbacks on their play, and increased benefits at higher tiers.

Unfortunately, only New Jersey players will earn Wild Card rewards at this time. However, Hard Rock Bet has plans to integrate its loyalty program with Hard Rock’s national rewards system, Unity by Hard Rock.

Bronze

The biggest benefit of moving up to Bronze is that players will earn double the Rewards Points. Everything else is pretty much the same.

At the Member and Bronze tiers, casino players receive a modest monthly deposit match offer, 25% up to $25 with a 15x wagering requirement.

Silver

• 3x Rewards Points multiplier
• Anniversary Bet & Get or other offer
• Overdrive Boosts

The rewards start to ramp up significantly at the Silver tier, particularly for casino players, who will receive a bigger deposit match bonus with lower wagering requirements (50% match up to $50 with 10x turnover).

Casino players will receive even better deposit match offers at this level. The standard monthly offer is a 100% match up to $100 with a 10 times turnover.

The 5x Rewards Points multiplier is nice, but as we’ll see the base cashback rate on Rewards Points is fairly low. A 5x multiplier doesn’t change that enough for our liking.

Platinum

Platinum is the first level that has the feeling of a VIP experience, but only slightly.

Players receive priority customer service, which would be a good perk if support queues weren’t already pretty short.

They’ll also have their payout requests prioritized. However, at this point in the sports betting industry’s lifecycle, priority withdrawals are more of a standard amenity than a luxury. These perks are just not particularly impressive.

More appealing are the multiplier boosts. Players will already earn 7x Rewards Points at this level. If Hard Rock Bet holds true to its promise of even larger multipliers during promotional periods, then Platinum members will be able to offset a large portion of their theoretical losses.

The casino offer at Platinum is fairly impressive, a 100% match up to $250 with just a 5x wagering requirement.

Diamond

At the invite-only Diamond Tier, casino players are awarded very healthy deposit match bonuses, with the lowest possible wagering requirements (100% match up to $500 with a 1x turnover). This is significantly better than the Platinum offer.

In addition, all Diamond members get 10x Reward Points value on each and every wager. That’s substantial enough for bettors to start feeling the impact of their point exchanges.

Finally, all Diamond members are assigned a host. It’s a little disappointing that the host option doesn’t unlock at Platinum, since it takes a healthy amount of wagering to reach that tier, but at least Hard Rock Bet provides some level of personalized support.

Although invite-only tiers add a sense of mystique to loyalty programs, we’d like it better if Hard Rock Bet was simply transparent about the wagering amounts necessary to reach Diamond. As is, the requirements are shrouded in mystery.

Hard Rock Bet players that have reached a high tier at another online gambling site or land-based casino can have their status matched. Only a few online gaming apps permit these valuable shortcuts, which allow bettors to experience the fruits of a loyalty program before investing a nickel.

Expert Tip: Rewards Points accrue on a fractional basis, and as long as bettors generate a fractional RP every 90 days, they’ll retain their points.

Tier Credits and Rewards Points have the same base earn rate. Therefore a player that earns 10 Tier Credits will also earn 10 Rewards Points at the Member Level. At Gold, they’d earn 50 Rewards Points per 10 Tier Credits, thanks to the 5x RP multiplier.

For players that want to pinpoint exactly how many Rewards Points they’ll earn per wager, Hard Rock Bet offers a handy tool comprised of three sliders: wager amount, odds/game type, and rewards tier. Each slider corresponds to one aspect of how RPs are calculated.

Using Hard Rock Bet Loyalty Rewards Points

When it comes to redeeming Rewards Points, Hard Rock Bet players have a plentiful number of options:

It would have been preferable if players could simply redeem their RPs in any denomination, but that’s a minor complaint.

Overall, the level of flexibility and gamification supported by Loyalty Rewards is mostly unheard of in the online gaming space. It’s a true testament to how much effort went into Loyalty Rewards.

However, a look under the hood reveals that the bonus/cash back rates are essentially the same, regardless of how you redeem points. Not to mention, the kickback rates aren’t all that great, even at the higher tiers.

As an example, here are the rates that Gold members will enjoy:

Three items of note:

• The bonus bet and Mystery Wheel Bonus rates are better than the other options. This is because winning wagers only return the profit margin and not the stake. At even-money odds, they’re worth about half their cash value. Use bonus bets on underdogs to increase their expected value (EV).
• Most of the time (75 – 96%), the Mystery Wheel will land on one of the two smallest prizes, and there’s only a 1% chance to win one of the jackpots. Only redeem RPs for Wheel spins if you can stomach the volatility.
• Members can get more bang for their buck by redeeming RPs for pricier rewards, but the uptick is only about 5-10%. For instance, a $5 bonus bet costs 400 RPs, but a $50 bonus is 3,800 RPs, representing a 5% discount.

Sadly, most online casino sites (and land-based outlets for that matter) have spent the past few years slashing their loyalty program earn rates. Hard Rock Bet has apparently jumped on that train. Even Diamond players that bet point spreads cap out at around 0.125% bonus back, which is not even 3% of their theoretical loss.

Underdog bettors and slot players fare considerably better, maxing out at 0.75% bonus back. If Hard Rock Bet stays true to its promise to offer Loyalty Rewards Multiplier promos, then RP redemptions will act as a significant comp for the app’s biggest players.

Fun Fact: Sports bettors that place their average wager at around -150 odds will have to wager $60 million at Diamond to win the Tesla Model Y. Slots players “only” have to wager $12 million.
