Welcome BonusPlay $5, Get $50 in Lineups Instantly
Play-Through RequirementsNone

PrizePicks offers a fantasy pickโ€™em lineups bonus worth $50, but it does not offer any dedicated promotions specifically for its prediction markets.

However, itโ€™s easy to claim the main welcome bonus because (a) PrizePicksโ€™ fantasy pickโ€™em games and prediction markets share the same app, and (b) the upfront risk to claim the bonus is just $5.

If you sign up for an account with the promo code BUSA, you can claim the bonus by playing $5 in fantasy entries. In return, youโ€™ll receive $50 in bonus funds to use on fantasy pickโ€™em contests.

Read more about the welcome offer here:

PrizePicks prediction markets are based on exchange-traded Yes/No contracts that ask whether specific events will happen, covering topics ranging from sports to the weather.

Each market poses a binary question (e.g., “Will the Lakers win tonight?” or “Will Bitcoin exceed $100,000 by March 31?”), and users purchase contracts that settle at $1.00 if the predicted outcome occurs or $0.00 if it does not.

However, you wonโ€™t see contract prices when you open the app. Instead, PrizePicks displays market prices as payout multipliers. For example, a Rockets vs. Nuggets game might look like this:

  • HOU: 3.03x
  • DEN: 1.35x

You see simple payout multipliers, but under the hood, youโ€™re technically buying exchange-traded contracts on either team to win the game.

For example, if you pick Houston to win, youโ€™re buying Yes contracts on โ€œWill Houston win?โ€ at a price of roughly $0.33 (since $1.00 divided by $0.33 = roughly 3.03x).

If you spend $100 on Houston, and they win, youโ€™ll receive a payout of $303. Itโ€™s straightforward on your screen, but what happened behind the scenes was you spent $100 on Houston Yes contracts at $0.33 per contract (which got you about 303 contracts). When Houston won, your contracts settled at a price of $1 each, resulting in a total return of $303.

PrizePicks handles the math on the backend to keep it simple. All you have to deal with on the screen is dollars and multipliers.

You can also sell your contracts at any time before settlement to lock in a profit or cut your losses, subject to available liquidity. For a more detailed explanation of how prediction markets work, see our main prediction markets guide here:

The PrizePicks app organizes its prediction markets under two tabs:

  • Team Picks: Covers sports markets, with subcategories for each league and sport.
  • Culture Picks: A catch-all category that extends well beyond culture, encompassing politics, economics, crypto prices, climate, AI developments, and much more. Despite the name, Culture Picks functions as PrizePicks’ gateway to nearly the full spectrum of Kalshi’s event contract exchange.

Team Picks Overview

PrizePicks Team Picks

Team Picks offers sports prediction markets for all major US leagues and many international leagues. Users can trade contracts on individual game outcomes, season-long futures, and player awards. The available market types include:

  • Outright Winner: Choose which team will win the game outright. For example, buying a Yes contract on the Celtics at $0.58 means spending $58 for 100 contracts that pay out $100 if Boston wins.
  • Point Spread: Choose which team will win after applying a points handicap. If the Chiefs are -3.5, a Yes contract pays out if Kansas City wins by 4 or more points.
  • Totals: Predict whether the combined score of both teams will exceed the market’s projected total. A Yes contract on an over/under of 215.5 points pays out if the final combined score is 216 or higher.
  • 1st Half / 2nd Half Winners, Spreads, and Totals: The same market types as above, except applied to only the first or second half of the game.
  • Team Futures: Longer-term markets such as championship winners, whether a specific team qualifies for the playoffs, and season win totals.
  • Awards: Markets on individual player awards such as MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, and similar honors.
  • Player Futures: Individual player outcome markets such as whether a player will record a triple-double this season or announce their retirement this year.

Team Picks currently covers the NBA, college basketball, NFL, college football, NHL, MLB, WBC, soccer (MLS and numerous international leagues), WCBB, tennis, golf, esports, motorsports, cricket, rugby, lacrosse, UFC, boxing, darts, chess, and additional sports on occasion.

Culture Picks Overview

PrizePicks Culture Picks

Culture Picks covers nearly the entire breadth of Kalshi’s event contract exchange. Some niche Kalshi markets may not appear in PrizePicks (e.g., 15-minute Bitcoin up/down contracts), but most Kalshi markets are accessible directly through the PrizePicks app under the Culture tab.

Despite the “Culture” branding, this category extends far beyond pop culture. Categories include:

  • Crypto Prices: Will Bitcoin’s price exceed a specific dollar amount by 5 PM ET today? Will Ethereum exceed a target price this year? Will a specific project launch its own token this year?
  • Climate: Will the temperature exceed a certain number of degrees in a given city today? Will monthly rainfall totals exceed a specific threshold? Will officially documented tornados nationwide exceed 100 this month?
  • Politics and Elections: Will there be a government shutdown? Will the President’s approval rating hit a certain percentage before a specific date? Will a particular candidate win a gubernatorial election? Which party will control the House next year?
  • Economics: Will the government reduce the national deficit this year? Will the next Fed decision lower interest rates? Will inflation exceed a specific percentage this year? Will initial jobless claims exceed a certain number this week? Will the average home price in a given city exceed a certain dollar amount next month?
  • Mentions: Will the broadcast announcers say the word “MVP” during Thursday’s Celtics at Thunder game? Will the President say the word “predecessor” in the State of the Union address?
  • TV and Movies: Who will win a specific reality show this year? Which series will be the top US Netflix series this week? Will a movie’s viewership exceed a specific number this week? Will a movie release by a specific date?
  • Music and Entertainment: Will a specific artist get inducted into the Hall of Fame this year? Who will win iHeartRadio’s Artist of the Year award? What will be the top U.S. song on Spotify today? Will a celebrity appear on the Joe Rogan podcast this year? Who will be TIME’s Person of the Year? Who will be the most-searched person on Google this year?
  • Video Games: Will a game release by a certain date? Will the price of a game exceed a specific dollar amount on release day? Who will be on the cover of an upcoming sports game franchise? Will a game win Game of the Year? Will a studio release a sequel this year?
  • Companies: Will a specific company announce an IPO this year? Will the CEO of a certain company resign this year? Will the S&P 500 add a specific company in a given quarter? Will Boeing deliveries exceed a certain number in Q1? Will Apple release the new iPhone by a specific date?
  • Financials: Will the S&P 500 price go up or down over the next hour? Will the Nasdaq-100 close above a certain price at year-end? Will Netflix increase prices this year?
  • AI Developments: Will a certain company release its new model this month? Which AI model will top the Chatbot Arena rankings this month? Which AI company will be first to reach a specific benchmark?

The list above is not exhaustive. Users can visit the Culture tab to browse dozens of additional categories and hundreds of active markets at any given time.

PrizePicks Prediction Market Fees

PrizePicks charges service fees on every contract bought or sold before settlement. Fee amounts scale with contract price, ranging from $0.005 to $0.02 per contract:

Price per ContractFee per Contract
$0.01$0.005
$0.02$0.010
$0.03$0.015
$0.04+$0.020

The fee schedule imposes the lowest fees on the cheapest contracts and maxes out at $0.02 per contract for positions priced at $0.04 per contract or higher.

In short, that means a 100-contract position will never incur more than $2.00 in fees. PrizePicks does not charge fees on contracts held to settlement, meaning the fee only applies when actively buying or selling a position before the event concludes.

For example, if you buy 100 Yes contracts at $0.55 each, youโ€™ll pay $55 plus a $2 service fee ($0.02 x 100 contracts), for a total outlay of $57. If the event outcome is Yes, your 100 contracts settle at $100 in total for a net profit of $43.00.

If you instead sell those contracts early at $0.70 instead of holding to settlement, youโ€™ll receive $70 minus a $2 service fee, netting $68 and a profit of $11.00 on the original $57.00 investment.

PrizePicks offers prediction markets through its existing app, the same platform fans have long used to place fantasy pickโ€™em entries.

The prediction markets interface is streamlined. Selecting a market displays the current Yes and No contract prices, and placing a trade requires choosing a direction, entering a dollar amount, and confirming.

The app shows the potential payout before confirmation, so users always know their maximum upside and downside before committing.

App Highlights

  • Unified app: Prediction markets, fantasy pick’em, and account management are all available in the original PrizePicks app. Users do not need a separate login, app, or wallet to switch between products.
  • Quick contract execution: Placing a trade takes only a few taps. The app displays contract prices, potential payouts, and fee totals on a single confirmation screen.
  • Live position tracking: Open positions update in real-time, showing current market value and unrealized gains or losses.
  • Broad market browsing: The Culture Picks tab organizes hundreds of markets into categories, making it relatively easy to browse politics, finance, entertainment, and other topics without leaving the app.
  • Early exit option: Users can sell positions before settlement directly within the app, subject to available liquidity.

Notable Weak Points

  • No market orders: PrizePicks does not support market orders, stop-loss orders, or partial fills. All orders are limit orders. If PrizePicks cannot fill the entire order at the specified price or better, it cancels the entire order rather than executing a partial fill.
  • No demo or practice mode: There is no paper trading option. Users must commit real money to participate in prediction markets, with no way to test the waters first.
  • Shared app clutter: If youโ€™re only interested in prediction markets, the PrizePicks app may seem cluttered, with tabs and promotions for its various offerings all competing for your attention.
  • App Shows Multipliers Instead of Prices: The PrizePicks app displays prices as payout multipliers rather than as contract prices or probability percentages, which obscures the actual market mechanics and makes it harder to compare prices between different platforms. Casual fans who just want to see what a winning prediction pays may appreciate the design choice, but more experienced traders accustomed to contract prices and percentages will find it frustrating.
  • Horizontal Leagues Menu: The app lists all available sports leagues in a horizontal scrollbar along the top of the PrizePicks rather than in a vertical dropdown menu. With dozens of sports available, finding a specific league like darts or lacrosse requires swiping through a long, horizontal row on a screen with limited horizontal real estate. Searching by name works, but a collapsible vertical menu would make browsing far less tedious.

Overall App Verdict

The PrizePicks app provides an intuitive, functional entry point to prediction markets, particularly for users already familiar with the PrizePicks app. The unified design is convenient for existing users, and placing trades is fast and intuitive.

However, the lack of advanced order types, the tedious markets scroll bar, and no paper trading option hold the app back compared to dedicated prediction market platforms like Kalshi. Experienced traders may find the platform too stripped-down, while casual users will likely appreciate the simplicity.

Deposits are a somewhat weak point for PrizePicks because there are only a handful of ways for customers to fund their trading activity. However, the positive points outweigh that one negative: all deposits are free and instant.

Deposit MethodMinimum DepositFee
Debit Card (Visa and Mastercard)$10None
Instant Bank Transfer$10None
Apple Pay$10None

Notes:

  • Mastercard not accepted in South Carolina.
  • Apple Pay deposits may only be funded by Visa and Mastercard debit cards linked to the accountholderโ€™s wallet.

Withdrawal options for PrizePicks prediction markets include:

MethodMinimum WithdrawalFee
Bank Transfer$10None
Debit Card$10None
Online Banking$10None
PayPal*$10None
Venmo*$10None

*PayPal and Venmo may only be used to withdraw funds if you have previously used them to fund your PrizePicks Fantasy account.

PrizePicks officially states that withdrawals can take 1-5 business days to process. In testing, withdrawals have consistently processed on the same day and sometimes within minutes of the request. PrizePicks advises customers to wait at least 48 hours before contacting customer support about pending withdrawals.

PrizePicks provides several responsible trading tools accessible from within the app:

  • Custom Deposit Limits: Users can set self-imposed daily, weekly, or monthly deposit limits with a minimum duration of 90 days. Users can lower limits at any time but cannot raise them until the chosen period expires.
  • Trading Breaks: Users can temporarily disable their ability to submit entries or deposit funds for a period of 1 to 30 days. Account access and withdrawals remain available during cooling-off periods.
  • Self-Exclusion: Users can temporarily disable all account access and block marketing communications for 30 days or more. During self-exclusion, users cannot log in, place trades, or deposit funds.
  • Lifetime Self-Exclusion: A permanent option that closes the account indefinitely. Users who select lifetime self-exclusion cannot reactivate their accounts or sign up for new accounts. PrizePicks automatically refunds any remaining balance.
  • Educational Resources: PrizePicks publishes responsible gaming guides within its Playbook section and was the first DFS operator to partner with Kindbridge Behavioral Health, giving all users access to mental health and responsible gaming support resources.

PrizePicks offers 24/7 live chat support accessible through both the website and the app. The chat is staffed by live agents rather than a bot, and response times during normal hours are generally fast โ€” typically a few minutes or less. For less urgent matters, email support is available at support@prizepicks.com, with a stated target response time of around four hours.

There is no phone support. Users who prefer to speak with someone directly have no option to do so, which is a common limitation across DFS and prediction market platforms but worth noting.

PrizePicks also maintains a decent but not comprehensive self-help center that covers registration, deposits and withdrawals, eligibility, prediction market mechanics, and responsible trading.

An official Discord server is also available for community questions and moderated discussions. PrizePicks’ social media support account (@PrizeSupport on X) is active and responsive to user inquiries.

One caveat: Live chat response times receive generally positive feedback, but Trustpilot reviews are mixed, with a portion of negative responses centered on withdrawal delays and account verification issues.

These complaints are not unique to PrizePicks (identity verification complaints and withdrawal delays are recurring themes in prediction markets and DFS), but they appear with enough frequency to flag. If you run into an account or payment issue, the live chat option is your best bet to get it sorted quickly.

PrizePicks does not specify a specific position limit. However, PrizePicks reserves the right to โ€œlimit the number or size of positions which you may maintain or acquire through your Event Contract Account.โ€

Yes. All orders are limit orders by default, and PrizePicks does not offer market orders. When you place an order, you specify the price, and PrizePicks will try to complete it at that price or better. If thereโ€™s not enough liquidity to complete your order at your desired price, PrizePicks will cancel the entire order.

PrizePicks cancels the entire order. For example, if you attempt to buy 100 contracts at $0.50 each and the price rises to $0.51 before the order is fully filled, PrizePicks cancels the full order rather than executing a partial fill.

No. Each prediction market contract is a standalone Yes/No position. Users cannot combine multiple contracts into a single parlay-style entry. Any parlay-style options you see on PrizePicks are its fantasy pickโ€™em entries, not prediction markets.

Final Thoughts: Is PrizePicks Predictions Legit?

PrizePicks Predictions operates through a legitimate regulatory framework. PrizePicks’ subsidiary, Performance Predictions II, LLC, is registered as a  Futures Commission Merchant (FCM) with the National Futures Association, and all event contracts are listed on Kalshi’s CFTC-regulated Designated Contract Market.

In other words, PrizePicks operates under federal regulations designed to protect usersโ€™ funds and ensure the legitimacy of its markets.

PrizePicks Predictions is a strong fit for existing customers who want to explore event contract trading without downloading a new app, creating a separate account, and managing multiple wallets.

Additionally, the fee structure is competitive, and the streamlined mobile experience lowers the barrier to entry for first-time prediction market traders.

However, anyone looking for a more comprehensive trading experience should consider alternative platforms. Operators like Kalshi and Polymarket offer similarly broad market categories but with lower fees and more advanced trading interfaces.

Similarly, anyone looking for parlay-style entries, including the option to combine player pickโ€™em projections with prediction markets, should consider an app like Underdog Predict.
