The Best Sports Betting Podcasts (For Serious Bettors)

betting podcasts

Since PASPA was overturned by the Supreme Court in 2018, US sports betting went from barely receiving any media attention to becoming an intrinsic part of mainstream culture.

These days, sports betting podcasts absolutely flood the airwaves. This might sound like great news for bettors, but in a world of touts, influencers, and media personalities posing as expert bettors, sifting through all the noise to find real quality content can be a constant struggle.

Luckily, there are quite a few excellent sports betting podcasts that will help aspiring bettors up their games, learn more about the evolving industry, or at least crack a smile. Here’s a look at some of BettingUSA’s favorites.

Circles Off: Rob Pizzola and Johnny Capo

Circles Off co-host Rob Pizzola has a fascinating sports betting journey. A lifelong sports fan, he gravitated to sports betting at an early age. Yet despite his obsession with the game, he couldn’t find a way to win, at least not consistently.

Pizzola will be the first to tell you that to this day he’s had more losing years than winners. Although given his recent success, that might soon change.

In college, Pizzola began studying statistics and analytics and used this newfound knowledge to build sports betting models. Fast forward a few years and he was making more money betting than as a Project Manager at theScore.

In 2021, Pizzola joined betstamp, a well-respected sports betting utility app that grants bettors access to the same tools used by pros. That same year he started Circles Off with co-host Johnny Capo from betstamp.

Circles Off explores a wide range of educational topics, ranging from the very simplistic like how to read an odds screen, to in-depth discussions on finding edges. It also attracts many of today’s top sports bettors, who seem more willing to reveal their secrets to the humble Pizzola than they do to other casters. Guests include pro gamblers Spanky, Brock Landers, Berryhorse along with some big names from the other side of the counter.

Pizzola and Johnny have an awesome dynamic, injecting bits of humor into serious topics, and always explaining advanced concepts in a way that casual bettors can understand. Their no-nonsense, no-picks approach will resonate with listeners willing to put in the necessary work to become winning bettors.

Circles Off is presented by Pinnacle, one of the premier names in sports betting. It exists under The Hammer Betting Network (also founded by Pizzola), along with another reputable and informative sports betting podcast, 90 Degrees, hosted by Kevin Davis.

Fun Fact: The name Circles Off is a reference to Pinnacle Sportsbook. When Pinnacle first posts its lines they’ll have a little red circle next to them, indicating a low limit. When the circle comes off, the limits are raised significantly and bettors can pound the line. For pro bettors, “Circles off” is akin to the opening bell on Wall Street.

Be Better Bettors

  • Available on: Apple / Spotify
  • Number of episodes: 90+, new episodes posted about 1-3 times per month

Be Better Bettors podcast doesn’t run on a regular schedule, has mediocre production quality, and feels completely off the cuff. Yet none of that matters because the host is one of the most prolific sports bettors to ever play the game.

Spanky (real name Gadoon Kryollos), gained the attention of aspiring sharps when he began posting videos of him getting kicked out of nearly every sportsbook he stepped foot in. The books were terrified of his action, and many wondered why.

As it turns out, Kryollos has spent half a lifetime picking off bad lines. His proprietary software and industry relationships are the envy of most wannabe pros. He’s also mastered the mentality and commitment needed to adapt and grow in a hostile environment. Ask Spanky and he’ll tell you that winning is just the beginning. Using your skills to build a viable sports betting career? Now that is a completely different animal.

In his podcast, Spanky covers much of what he’s learned throughout his 20+ years in sports betting. Listeners will receive valuable tidbits on how to win and how to fly under the radar. Perhaps most importantly, they’ll learn about the harsh realities of being a professional bettor.

Some may actually be deterred from pursuing a betting career after hearing Spanky’s stories, as his no-nonsense transparency will make bettors think carefully about their next steps. It’s a refreshing change from all the grifters who want you to believe that professional betting is easy.

Be Better Bettors isn’t always a monologue. Spanky has interviewed various pro bettors, bookmaking legends, and sports media personalities. The list includes Jeff Benson of Circa Sports, gambling icon Billy Baxter, Haralabos Voulgaris, and Scott Kaminsky. The quality of Be Better Bettors’ guests is a true testament to Spanky’s networking ability.

Fun Fact: Spanky started Bet Bash in 2021, and in just a few years it has evolved into one of the year’s biggest gatherings of sports betting personalities. That’s how revered Spanky is in the industry.

Bet the Process

  • Available on: Apple / Spotify
  • Number of episodes: 220+, new episodes posted weekly

Bet the Process is a long-running podcast co-hosted by two brilliant sports betting minds.

Jeff Ma is famous for his involvement with the MIT Blackjack Team, but his real genius lies in predictive analytics. Rufus Peabody (real name) is a Yale grad who specializes in quantitative ratings and rankings, particularly for the NFL and NCAA football. He’s also the co-founder of Unabated, but more on that later.

These are two guys who brought the significance of data-driven sports modeling into the public eye, and their collective knowledge shines through on Bet the Process. Their insight is especially profound around Super Bowl time or when there’s a big PGA event coming up.

Some listeners have complained that the casters aren’t always engaged or often go on inconsequential tangents, and those are valid opinions. However, there are enough valuable tidbits sprinkled in to justify the journey.

Specifically, Rufus, Jeff, and the podcast’s guests often talk about how analysis drives their betting approach. They don’t always give away the farm, but Bet the Process is probably the closest bettors will get to a legitimate “picks” podcast.

The cast’s backlog of interviewees is beyond impressive and includes stats guys, pro bettors, big sports media personalities like ESPN’s Mina Kimes, and a sprinkle of professional poker players, including 2017 WSOP Champion Scott Blumstein.

If you don’t like digging into analytics, then this is probably not the sports betting podcast for you. For math nerds, it may be one of the only ones they need.

Fun Fact: Ben Campbell, the lead character from the movie “21”, is based on Jeff Ma. To put it mildly, Campbell’s story is an embellishment of what really happened.

Unabated Podcast

  • Available on: Apple / Spotify
  • Number of episodes: 60+, new episodes posted about twice per week

The guys at Unabated know sports betting. There is no clearer evidence of this than the suite of superior educational resources and betting tools they have unveiled over the past few years.

The Unabated Podcast is an invaluable complement to their main product and a great listen even if you’re not signed up for an Unabated account.

Hosted by the company’s Associate Director of Content Thomas Viola and Unabated Co-Founder and professional bettor Captain Jack Andrews, the Unabated Podcast blends practical betting advice with poignant commentaries on the art of sports betting.

The hosts broach difficult topics in an approachable fashion, making it a perfect listen for casual or semi-serious bettors looking to sharpen their skills. Topics run the gamut from simple tips on how to find positive expectation bets to long-term winning strategies for specific sports. There’s even a special segment called Deep Left (co-hosted by Jason Weingarten) focused entirely on betting MLB, which is a very tough nut to crack.

The casts run around 30 minutes and usually focus on one major topic, with little time wasted on extraneous storytelling. When the hosts do weave personal anecdotes into the mix, they’re compelling enough to keep listeners intrigued.

Yes, there are a few Unabated plugs, but most of them are related to the Unabated Discord community, which is an incredible resource for sharps in training.

Whereas Be Bettor Betters focuses more on the dark realities of sports betting, the Unabated Podcast has an optimistic vibe. The advice is so actionable that bettors could listen to a cast on their drive home from work or the grocery store and immediately apply it to tonight’s betting slate.

No, the Unabated Podcast doesn’t spoon-feed its listener’s picks, but it does steer them in the right direction. That’s more than what 99% of sports betting podcasts can offer.

Fun Fact: The Unabated team is loaded with talent. In addition to Captain Jack, the co-founders include Rufus Peabody and Daily Fantasy Sports superstar Peter Jennings.

Gambling With An Edge

  • Available on: Apple / Spotify / Archives
  • Number of episodes: 600+, no longer releasing new episodes

Gambling With an Edge may have sailed into the sunset, but its legacy will live on. The podcast ran an astounding 12 years and arguably got better with each flip of the calendar.

It was hosted by two living legends of advantage gambling. The first was Richard Munchkin, who rose to prominence as a card counter in the 1980s before moving to LA to pursue writing, directing, and producing. In 2002 Munchkin wrote “Gambling Wizards,” a fascinating series of interviews with top gamblers. Then, in 2009 he received the distinguished honor of being inducted into the Blackjack Hall of Fame. Munchkin was the only inductee that year.

Joining him as cohost is Bob Dancer. A former card counter himself, Dancer transitioned to advantage video poker in the 1990s and had a transformative effect on the game. After taking millions from casinos, Dancer would become a video poker educator, and his Video Poker for Winners software set the precedent for modern VP training tools. His influence is so pronounced that some believe he’s responsible for Vegas tightening up its video poker paytables. They’re probably right.

Dancer’s book “Million Dollar Video Poker,” which tells the story of how he went from playing quarters to hitting a million-dollar jackpot is still a must-read for gambling enthusiasts, despite being published two decades ago.

However, it takes more than two impressive gambling resumes to make a great gambling podcast. That’s where Munchkin’s and Dancer’s excellent approach to interviews comes in.

The duo clearly do their research beforehand, as they’re always equipped with interesting and informative questions for their guests. Furthermore, they give their guests ample time to tell their stories, acting as acute listeners for the majority of the hour, only interjecting their own insights when applicable.

One might think that Munchkin’s warming and demure demeanor would clash with Dancer’s careful matter-of-factness, but it just works.

GWAE isn’t a sports betting podcast, but after PASPA fell in 2018 more professional sports bettors and bookmakers were invited to the show. The list of big names that have appeared on GWAE is seemingly endless and includes Rob Pizzola, Elihu Feustel, Scotty Schettler, Chris Andrews, and Roxy Roxborough. The last sports bettor to appear on the show was none other than Captain Jack Andrews, a fitting finale to a historic run.

Anyone who bets professionally has probably listened to GWAE at one time or another, and there are plenty of pros out there that say it inspired them to turn their gambling hobby into a career. It will be missed.

Fun Fact: Richard Munchkin has started a new podcast called “Life is a Gamble,” with each episode focused on one gambler telling one story.

Gamble On

  • Available on: Apple / Spotify
  • Number of episodes: ~250, new episodes released weekly

For those who want to keep up with sports betting news but don’t want to scroll through walls of text, Gamble On offers the perfect solution.

Co-host Eric Raskin doesn’t pretend to be a professional sports bettor and will even inject some self-deprecating humor about how poorly his bets perform. However, he’s an engaging, witty, and charismatic host who knows a lot more than he sometimes lets on.

Raskin comes from a poker background, having penned the fascinating book “The Moneymaker Effect” in 2013. He has since progressed into the larger gambling industry and has developed a particular talent for keeping up with the ever-evolving sports betting industry.

He is joined by new co-host Jeff Edelstein, a veteran journalist and currently a Senior Analyst at USBets, where Raskin also works as Managing Editor and Media Director. The witty banter between the two makes for a breezy, fun listen, even when they’re reporting on otherwise humdrum subject matters like earnings reports and consolidations.

What puts Gamble On over the top is the quality of guests that Raskin and crew are able to secure. We’re talking poker legends like Chris Moneymaker and Phil Hellmuth, professional gambling superstars such as Gina Fiore and Rufus Peabody, and various personalities from the daily fantasy sports world.

Top that off with appearances from former New Jersey Governor Chris Christie, who spearheaded the battle to legalize sports betting, and New York Senator Joseph Addabbo, and you have one of the most impressive guest lists of any sports betting podcast.

To sum it up, Gamble On is a criminally overlooked cast that should be on every gambling aficionado’s playlist.

Fun Fact: Raskin also co-hosted the Breaking Bill podcast, a tribute to his favorite show Breaking Bad. Although there are rumors swirling that The Bear might become his new favorite show.
