Coinbase Predict Review
Coinbase entered the prediction markets game in late 2025 by partnering with Kalshi to launch Coinbase Predict and bring yes/no event contracts to its massive user base.
Coinbase Predict feels like a natural extension of the Coinbase app, but itโs a major addition that provides access to Kalshiโs full range of prediction markets. Available market categories range from sports and economics to politics, weather, and cultural moments.
The platform stands out for its nationwide reach and tight integration into the existing Coinbase app. If youโre already a Coinbase customer, getting started is almost effortless. That said, Coinbase Predict doesnโt reinvent the wheel because it relies primarily on Kalshi to offer legal prediction markets in the USA.
- Trade predictions on real-world events
- Available nationwide
- Must be US resident and 18+
Continue below for our full Coinbase Predict review, where we explain how it works, what it offers, and how it compares to other prediction market exchanges.
Pros
Convenient for current Coinbase users New customer bonuses Extensive markets powered by Kalshi Trade with existing USD/USDC balanceCons
Welcome bonuses require crypto purchase Higher fees than Kalshi Mixed reputation for customer supportCoinbase Predict States
Coinbase Predict is available nationwide for users 18 and older.
To access prediction markets, you need a standard Coinbase account, pass identity verification, and provide some basic financial information (required under federal law).
However, state-level regulatory actions may restrict event contracts tied to sports and politics in specific jurisdictions. In several states, local gaming commissions have sought to block prediction markets based on the outcomes of political and sporting events, contending that they constitute illegal or unlicensed gambling under their laws.
Coinbase contends that the CFTC holds exclusive jurisdiction over all prediction markets, meaning its full range of prediction markets is legal nationwide. In some states, the outcomes of ongoing legal battles will determine whether sports and political contracts will remain available in the future.
Coinbase Predict Promo Codes
| Title | Details |
|---|---|
Coinbase Predict Promo Code | Not Needed |
| Welcome Bonus | Up to $2,000 in BTC |
| Eligibility | 18+ and a US resident |
| Key Terms |
|
The current Coinbase offer does not require a bonus code. However, you’ll often see various Coinbase promo codes for smaller promotions via app notifications, official e-mails, and when logged in to the website.
You can check the validity of any Coinbase promo code before committing to a trade:
- Select โPreviewโ during any buy or sell transaction.
- On the order preview screen, select โHave a promo code?โ
- Input the promo code and select โApplyโ to see if itโs still valid
Coinbase Predict Bonus
Coinbase Predict hasn’t yet rolled out any specific welcome bonuses or promo codes tied directly to its prediction markets.
However, traders can still take advantage of Coinbaseโs general new customer bonuses. They arenโt exclusive to prediction markets, but new users can take advantage of promotions like this recent offer:
Buy $50 in crypto, spin the wheel for up to $2,000 in BTC.
Various Coinbase promo codes unlock different bonuses, but the โget up to $2,000โ offer is the largest weโve seen recently. The Coinbase offer mechanics are simple:
- Sign up for a new account and verify your identity
- Make a $50+ purchase of any cryptocurrency within 365 days of signing up
- Spin the prize wheel for a random Bitcoin bonus of $30 to $2,000
Terms and conditions are minimal:
- First purchases made with assets transferred to your portfolio are ineligible. You need to use an actual payment method (bank transfer, credit card, etc.) to complete your first purchase. For example, transferring ETH from an outside wallet and exchanging it for BTC does not qualify.
- This Coinbase bonus is available only to new customers.
- 99% of new users who spin the wheel will receive a reward of $30-$100 in Bitcoin.
- 1% of new users will receive a bonus of $1,000 or $2,000 in Bitcoin.
Two things worth noting:
First: If you already have a Coinbase account, you can access its prediction markets without any additional signup process beyond a standard CFTC-mandated financial and trading experience disclosure. Currently, there’s no separate bonus for existing users who start trading predictions.
Second: Coinbase bonuses change frequently, so this offer may change, pause, and restart over time. Keep an eye on the Coinbase app notifications for special event-based offers.
Other Coinbase Predict Promos
Prediction market platforms typically arenโt very promo-heavy, but Coinbase does occasionally run promotions for event contract trading.
For example, shortly after launching, Coinbase Predict held a $1,000,000 Big Game promotion. All customers who submitted five correct Super Bowl predictions received an equal share of Coinbaseโs $1 million Bitcoin prize pool. Customers could participate by either trading five Super Bowl contracts or by submitting a mail-in entry (no purchase necessary).
Keep an eye on the app and your inbox for any future Coinbase prediction market promos.
How Coinbase Predictions Work
Coinbaseโs prediction markets allow users to trade binary yes/no contracts tied to the outcomes of real-world events.
Each contract trades between $0.01 and $0.99, roughly representing the crowdโs collective probability sentiment. If your side wins, the contract settles at $1. If it loses, it settles at $0.
For example, if a โYesโ contract on the Seahawks to win the game is trading at 68ยข, it means the market collectively believes the Seahawks have a 68% chance of winning.
You fund trades using your existing USD or USDC balance in Coinbase. Select a market, choose โYesโ or โNo,โ enter the amount you’d like to spend, and confirm. Prices update in real time as traders buy and sell, just like a stock exchange.
Here are two theoretical Coinbase prediction market examples:
- If you buy 100 โYesโ contracts at 68ยข on โSeahawks to win,โ youโll spend $68. If they win, your contracts will settle at $1 each for a $100 payout. Net profit before fees: $32.
- Similarly, buying 100 โYesโ contracts at 32ยข on โPatriots to winโ will cost you $32. If they win, your contracts will settle at $1 each for a $100 payout. Net profit before fees: $68.
One handy feature is the ability to exit positions early. If news moves the market in your favor, you can sell your contracts before settlement to lock in a profit or cut your losses.
Settlement happens automatically once the independent source named in the marketโs rules confirms the outcome. In most cases, settlement occurs within 24 hours of the marketโs close date, and payouts typically occur 5-10 minutes later.
Note: You can find the official settlement source in the โAboutโ section inside each marketโs buy/sell page. If youโre trading on the Coinbase app, visit the marketโs buy/sell page, then visit the โDetailsโ tab.
In this example from a 2026 Fed rate cuts market on Coinbase, the rules plainly state that the Federal Reserve will be the marketโs official source for determining the outcome.

Coinbase Sports Prediction Markets
Sports contracts account for a significant portion of Coinbase Predictโs liquidity, especially during the NFL, NBA, and college basketball seasons. Baseball, hockey, golf, tennis, soccer, MMA, and even niche sports like table tennis also generate significant interest throughout the year.
Types of sports prediction markets include:
- Game winners
- Point spreads
- Over/under totals
- Player props
- Anytime touchdown scorers
- Championship futures
The Coinbase Predict app presents its sports event markets in a way thatโs intuitive for newcomers, stock traders, and experienced sportsbook users alike.
Instead of traditional moneyline odds, youโll see Yes/No contract prices that translate directly to implied probabilities, potential payouts, and settlement rules that explain exactly how each marketโs outcome is officially decided.
Market depth varies by event popularity. Primetime NFL games often feature dozens of related markets, while smaller college games might stick to basic outright winner and point spread markets.
Other Coinbase Prediction Market Categories
From day one, Coinbase Predict has offered an extensive width and depth of markets, all sourced from Kalshi. Available markets cover a wide range of topics and timeframes, ranging from 15-minute crypto price movements to multi-year rare weather phenomena.
Although Coinbase doesnโt yet offer any proprietary markets of its own, it remains one of the most comprehensive prediction exchanges available to traders.
Prediction market categories (and examples) include:
- Sports (โWill the Dolphins cover the spread in tonightโs NFL game?โ โWill Arizona win next yearโs March Madness tournament?โ)
- Mentions (โWill the announcers say โGatoradeโ during the Super Bowl broadcast?โ โWill Amazon say โPrime Dayโ during its next earnings call?โ)
- Politics (โWill this person testify before Congress this year?โ โWill members of Congress be banned from trading stocks before 2029?โ)
- Presidential Elections (โWill the Democratic Party nominate Candidate X?โ โWill the Republican Party win the Presidency?โ)
- Economics (โWill the Fed cut rates at its next FOMC meeting?โ โWill the CPI score exceed 0.3% next month?โ)
- Weather (โWill the high temperature in NYC reach 37ยฐ today?โ โWill there be 50+ confirmed tornadoes in the US this month?โ
- Pop Culture (โWho will get married on Love is Blind?โ โWill KaiCenat go live on Twitch before April?โ)
- Crypto (โWill Bitcoin be up or down in 15 minutes?โ โWill Eth increase in price this month?โ)
- Entertainment (โWill X movie win the Oscar for Best Picture?โ โWill X song be #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 this month?โ)
- Financials (โWill the Nasdaq-100 close below 24,300 today?โ โWill the Netflix stock price increase next year?โ)
- Science and Technology (โWill OpenAI release its next model this month?โ โWill a major meteor strike Earth before 2030?โ)
- Companies (โWhen will Apple release its next iPhone?โ โHow many launches will SpaceX have next month?โ)
Coinbase Predict App Review
Coinbase Predict does not operate as a standalone app. Instead, users can trade event contracts inside the existing Coinbase app.
Overall, the experience feels polished and familiar to anyone whoโs used Coinbase for crypto trading. Markets load quickly, and the straightforward interface feels intuitive.
Individual market screens display current prices, volume, order book data, and clear settlement rules without overwhelming users. Additionally, buying and selling contracts requires just a few taps.
The Coinbase predictions app handles live trading well during major events, with consistent, reliable pricing updates.
On the other hand, thereโs room for improvement in a couple of areas.
We also find the appโs search tool buggy and prone to assuming our search intent before weโve entered a complete search term. For example, when searching for โelectionโ inside the prediction markets area, the app consistently interrupted our search at โeleโ to display unrelated stock tickers and cryptocurrencies.
The search tool does eventually work if youโre persistent, but it requires a few attempts and some patience.
Additionally, social features are currently light. Unlike some competitors that integrate comment sections or “whale watching” feeds, Coinbase Predict keeps the experience private and focused on the trade. However, the sheer ease of moving from checking your Bitcoin balance to betting on the election makes the app stickier than most standalone competitors.
Coinbase Predict Deposit Methods
Coinbase Predict accepts USD and USDC (stablecoin) deposits through Coinbaseโs existing wallet and payment methods. Some deposit methods are free, others charge a hefty percentage, and they’re all relatively fast:
| Deposit Method | Fee | Processing Time |
| ACH Bank Transfer | Free | 1-5 Business Days |
| Debit Card (Visa and Mastercard) | 3.99% | Instant |
| Apple Pay | 3.99% | Instant |
| PayPal | 3.99% | Instant |
| Coinbase Gift Card | Free | Instant |
| Wire Transfer | $10 | 1-3 Business Days |
| Crypto Transfer from External Wallet | Typically free (Conversion and 3rd party network fees may apply) | Minutes to hours (varies by cryptocurrency and network congestion) |
Once funds post to your Coinbase account, you can immediately use them to trade prediction contracts. When you enter a position, cash transfers from your primary balance into a derivatives account maintained by Coinbase Financial Markets. When positions close, any available funds return to your main Coinbase account automatically.
How Coinbase Predict Compares
Coinbase Predictโs primary differentiator compared to other platforms is convenience for existing users.
If you already hold USD or USDC on Coinbase, getting started is far more convenient because you can start trading predictions without signing up again, funding a separate wallet, and restarting identity verification.
Instead of managing multiple accounts, you can view your crypto holdings and prediction markets inside your portfolio view. For crypto-native traders, being able to hedge Bitcoin price exposure directly alongside your spot holdings is a nice touch that other platforms can’t match.
The $1 minimum trade size makes Coinbase Predict approachable for casual users who want to explore prediction markets without significant upfront risk.
Another unique benefit is USDC integration. While other platforms might require deposits via bank transfer that take days to clear, or use volatile cryptocurrencies for settlement, Coinbase allows trading directly with USDC. This stablecoin offers the speed of crypto with the stability of the dollar.
The trade-off is that youโll pay higher trading fees with Coinbase Predict than with Kalshi. Coinbase appears to charge Kalshiโs base fee plus a markup, but itโs still cheaper than some of the alternatives, such as PredictIt.
Coinbase Predict Customer Support
Coinbase has long received mixed reviews for its customer support. Some customers report quick resolutions within hours, while others describe multi-week delays for complex issues.
Contact methods include:
- Phone: 1-888-908-7930 (24/7)
- Submit a callback request
- AI Chatbot
- X/Twitter: Official Coinbase Support Account: @CoinbaseSupport
- X/Twitter: Official Coinbase Predict Account: @CoinbasePredict
The Coinbase knowledge base also includes a section dedicated to prediction markets to answer common questions about trading and settlement. However, the self-help articles are of limited use, even for basic questions. In some cases, the self-help guides provide incomplete answers or spread information across different pages.
For example, itโs incredibly difficult to obtain a complete list of deposit method fees, nearly impossible to find a support phone number, and actually impossible to find Coinbaseโs prediction market fee formula using the knowledge base.
Coinbase Predict FAQ
Final Thoughts: Is Coinbase Predict Legit?
Coinbase Predict is a legitimate prediction markets platform and operates under federal regulatory oversight.
Its prediction markets subsidiary, Coinbase Financial Markets, is registered with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) and is an approved member of the National Futures Association. All contracts come from Kalshi, which operates as a CFTC-regulated designated contract market.
The CFTC-regulated structure, Kalshi partnership, and Coinbase’s established track record provide strong credibility.
For existing Coinbase users, the convenience is hard to beat. One app, one balance, and instant access to thousands of markets make it an attractive option for anyone who already has an account.
The primary downside is that Coinbase doesnโt disclose its fee structure, making it difficult to compare costs with competitors. We can confidently say that Coinbase charges lower trading fees than some alternatives (like PredictIt), but itโs also more expensive than Kalshi and Polymarket.
Coinbase Predict is a good option if you:
- Are an existing Coinbase user and would like to track your predictions, use a familiar platform, and view your contract positions alongside your other holdings
- Prioritize fast payments and being able to get started as quickly as possible over advanced features and minimal fees
However, you may want to consider a different platform or going straight to Kalshi if you:
- Want more sophisticated trading tools
- Are a volume trader seeking the lowest possible trading fees
