Minnesota Daily Fantasy Sports
Daily fantasy sports contests are legal but unregulated in Minnesota. The legislature has considered numerous bills to officially legalize DFS sites and fantasy pick’em apps, but none have gained the support needed to become law.
In the meantime, fans can use all the nation’s major fantasy sports apps from anywhere in the state. Most Minnesota fantasy sports apps require players to be 18 or older and offer one-day fantasy leagues, parlay-style pick’em contests, or both.
Below, we list the best Minnesota daily fantasy sports sites, discuss the current legal situation, and answer common questions.

Although Minnesota has never passed legislation to formally authorize fantasy sports sites, it’s a good state for players because every major DFS operator is active in Minnesota.
The options range from “classic” fantasy sites like FanDuel and DraftKings to pick’em fantasy apps like PrizePicks and Boom Fantasy. Other options include season-long fantasy leagues, best ball contests online, and variants of all of the above.
Lega Minnesota DFS Apps
- PrizePicks
- Boom Fantasy
- Underdog Fantasy
- OwnersBox
- ParlayPlay
- Betr Picks
- Dabble Fantasy
- Fanduel DFS
- DraftKings DFS
- DraftKings Pick6
- Sleeper DFS
However, fans need to exercise caution when choosing where to play fantasy sports online in Minnesota. The state’s lack of a regulatory regime means fantasy sports operators are entirely self-regulated in terms of financial security, integrity, and responsible gambling.
By choosing DFS operators licensed in other states, players can avoid the most common pitfalls associated with an unregulated fantasy sports market.
For example, fantasy sites licensed in Colorado, New York, and more than a dozen other states must undergo extensive background checks, segregate customers’ funds from operational funds, and promote responsible gambling.
For those reasons, BettingUSA’s recommended fantasy apps in Minnesota hold licenses in multiple other states and have demonstrated their ability to offer safe, fair contests. Plus, the best daily fantasy sports apps in Minnesota offer sizable DFS bonuses to new users.
Pick’em Fantasy Apps in Minnesota
Pick’em fantasy sports sites are an especially good fit for fans still waiting for the Minnesota legislature to legalize sports betting apps.
Fantasy pick’em contests feel a lot like sports betting because they have elements of totals and parlay bets but technically qualify as daily fantasy.
In fact, regulators in some states have determined that fantasy pick’em contests are sports betting and ordered DFS operators to cease offering such contests. Fortunately for fans, that’s not the case in Minnesota.
In contrast, the Minnesota legislature has considered and nearly passed legislation containing provisions that explicitly authorize fantasy pick’em contests.
Although those bills haven’t become law, they demonstrate that the relevant authorities are aware of pick’em style contests and are more interested in regulating them than banning them.
Minnesota Fantasy Sports Laws
Daily fantasy sports contests are legal in Minnesota thanks to a UIGEA exemption and favorable state laws.
In 2024, lawmakers considered HF 2000 and HF 5274, two bills primarily related to sports betting in Minnesota. These bills also included provisions to legalize and regulate fantasy sports.
The legislature nearly reached a deal to approve HF 5274 but ran out of time before they could come to an agreement.
Both bills would have authorized players 21 or older to participate in daily fantasy sports contests and defined permissible contest types as follows:
“…both contests wherein authorized participants compete against each other and contests wherein only a single authorized participant competes against a target score set by the fantasy contest operator.”
In previous years, lawmakers have considered Minnesota fantasy sports bills that would have established a minimum age of 18. Those efforts also would have required licensed DFS platforms to segregate customers’ funds from operating funds and provide voluntary self-exclusion tools to players.
