Montana Online Lottery

Is It Legal to Buy Lottery Tickets Online in Montana?
State law prohibits the Montana Lottery from selling tickets online, but lottery courier apps are legal.
In November 2022, the Department of Administration issued a legal opinion in response to a query from the Montana Lottery regarding the legality of third-party ticket couriers like Jackpocket.
The opinion concluded that lottery courier services are legal if they meet these three criteria:
- They sell Montana Lottery tickets at face value; separate delivery and convenience fees are permitted
- They fulfill customer orders by purchasing physical Montana Lottery tickets at licensed retailers
- They only serve customers who are 18+ and physically present in Montana at the time of purchase

Montana Lottery Player’s Club
The Player’s Club is the Montana Lottery’s official loyalty and rewards program. In short, it gives players more ways to win prizes using tickets they have already purchased.
The program operates on a points-based system where members earn points by entering Montana Lottery tickets into their online accounts. For every dollar spent on tickets, members typically receive one point.
Players 18+ can join the Montana Lottery Player’s Club by signing up at playersclub.montanalottery.com or through the official MT Lottery app.
Once registered, members can submit draw game and instant win tickets they’ve already purchased through the app or website to enter second-chance promotions and earn loyalty points.
The Player’s Club offers two primary types of drawings:
- Second-Chance Drawings: Enter qualifying tickets into promotions designed specifically for that game for entries into drawings for cash, merchandise, and experiential packages. Players also earn loyalty points when entering tickets for second-chance drawings.
- Cash Drawings: Players may use their loyalty points to enter monthly cash drawings for chances to win $100, $200, or $500. Player’s Club members may enter cash drawings as often as they wish, provided they have sufficient loyalty points.
In addition to points-based drawings, the Player’s Club offers other benefits, such as members-only promotions and opportunities to play Spin & Win for additional points and prizes.
How to Claim Montana Lottery Prizes
Montana Lottery winners have three options for claiming their prizes:
- At the Retailer: Winners of less than $600 can claim their prize at any Montana Lottery retailer
- By Mail: Send the winning ticket, a completed claim form, and a photocopy of your photo ID via certified mail to the address provided below
- In Person: Winners can claim prizes of any amount at the Montana Lottery headquarters in Helena
