Pennsylvania Launches Online Lottery Games

There’s a new way to play the lottery in Pennsylvania. On Monday, the Pennsylvania Lottery launched PAiLottery.com offering real money games to customers 18 or older and located within state lines at the time. The new online lottery games accept wagers ranging from $0.10 to $10 a shot and offer payouts as high as $250,000.

If you’re an adult located in Pennsylvania, you can now play lottery games from the comfort of home and potentially win serious money while you’re at it. The current lineup includes a mix of reveal games reminiscent of scratch cards, a crossword puzzle game and a gem-smashing game that brings back memories of Bejeweled.

The new website launched with a small collection of just eleven games, but we expect that list to grow as the PA lottery settles in with the new concept. Plus, you’ll notice a handy search bar allowing visitors to find specific games by name. It’s doubtful the website’s designers would have gone through the trouble of implementing a search function if they were planning on leaving the full lineup at fewer than a dozen games.

The new games do not include traditional draw games, fast play games or scratch cards sold at local retailers. PAiLottery.com will be offering brand new games that look similar to scratch cards, but that are completely unique. And unlike traditional scratch cards, these new online lotto games include bonus rounds and other special features to enhance the fun factor.

PA Lottery Executive Director Drew Svitko said this in a press release:

“PA iLottery games are a fun, new way to play and win from home or while on the go. iLottery is a big part of our effort to meet our players where they already are while generating new funds to benefit older Pennsylvanians.

Experienced gaming and lottery development company Scientific Gaming has been tapped to manage Pennsylvania’s online lottery games. Big Changes for Pennsylvania

This is just the latest sign a massive gambling expansion bill passed last year in Pennsylvania is starting to bear fruit. Just days after the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board invited local casinos to start applying for sports betting licenses, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced the launch of its own online games.

Last year’s gambling expansion bill also legalized sports betting contingent on the Supreme Court ruling in favor of New Jersey in its challenge of the constitutionality of the federal sports betting prohibition. New Jersey won the case and PASPA was stricken down, which prompted Pennsylvania to move on sports betting.

It all means big changes are coming for players in Pennsylvania. Where just a year ago residents’ gambling options were limited to horse racing, casinos and lottery tickets, players now have access to online lottery games and will soon be able to bet on sports and play casino games online.
