Borgata Casino and Hotel has a well-deserved reputation as New Jersey’s best casino property. Many a traveler will tell you Borgata Casino has a poker room that rivals (or beats) even the best Las Vegas has to offer. A bustling casino and hotel have also done much to further cement Borgata’s reputation in Atlantic City.
However, we’re here to talk about Borgata Online today. More specifically, we have a Borgata Casino review and a Borgata Poker review all wrapped up in one. This makes for a long read, so feel free to skip to either review using the page jump links below:
Borgata Sportsbook and Casino is New Jersey's most successful gambling site thanks in part to effective deposits, a big variety of slots, active poker tables and frequent player promotions. Mobile sports betting was added in 2019 to make this a well-rounded gaming site.
- Licensed and legal in the USA
- Risk-free sports bet for new customers
- Huge collection of slots
- Fairly busy poker room
- In-play betting selection is limited
- Small selection of table games
- Some slots and video poker games look very outdated
Borgata Sportsbook Review
We begin today with our Borgata sports betting review but will be giving a close look to everything the site has to offer throughout this page. Borgata Online launched its sportsbook in May 2019, just about a year to the day the Supreme Court overturned the federal law prohibiting sports betting at the national level.
Borgata Sportsbook was fairly late to the party as it was the 14th online sportsbook to launch in New Jersey after the state legalized sports betting. Borgata may have missed out on the initial rush to mobile sports betting, but we can say they’ve had plenty of opportunity in the meantime to watch the competition to see what works and what doesn’t.
So, with that in mind, let’s see how Borgata fares against the competition. We begin with some basic background info and will continue our review below:
- Borgata Sportsbook is available in: New Jersey
- Operated by: Partnership between GVC Holdings and Borgata AC
- Established: Online gaming and poker in November 2013; sports betting in May 2019
- Platforms: Full desktop website and mobile apps for iPhone/iOS and Android devices
- New customer bonus: Up to $250 risk-free bet for sports; 100% up to $600 for casino and poker
Sports betting is integrated into the existing Borgata platform and if you already have an account, there’s no need to sign up again. Players can also head to BorgataSports.com to be redirected to the main sports betting area at the primary website (BorgataOnline.com). From there, you’ll find a full list of sports, popular wagers, enhanced odds bets and upcoming games featuring in-play betting.
Getting around on the website and mobile app is made easy with a simple and clean interface. Borgata Sportsbook provides a labeled navigation menu you can use to browse the various sports leagues along with a main betting area showing open wagers on today’s most popular games.
Simplicity seems to be the strategy with Borgata Sportsbook. This is handy when it comes to convenience, but it also means there’s not as much information on offer if you’re looking for a little help in finding smart wagers.
For example, some competing sportsbooks such as SugarHouse tell you how many wagers are offered for every game and provide meaningful live statistics for in-play betting. Borgata Sportsbook comes up short in both areas.
Borgata Sportsbook Bonus
Borgata has launched sports betting with a risk-free offer that will refund your first wager with up to $250 in cash if it’s a loser. This means you can place your first bet, cash it out if you win or get your money back if you lose. There are no wagering requirements or other strings attached as long as you:
- Download the Borgata Sports app
- Sign up for a new account
- Place your first wager of $25 or more using your own money
- If the first wager is a winner, you keep the winnings as normal
- If the first wager is a loser, Borgata will refund the losing wager with up to $250 in cash
The most important thing to note is your first wager must be graded within seven days of it being placed. In other words, do not use this promotion to place any long-term futures on things such as who will win next year’s World Series or Super Bowl – the free wager offer is for normal, day-to-day wagers only.
No special bonus codes are needed to claim this offer. All you need is to be a new customer, register an account and place your first bet.
Although you can find bigger welcome bonuses elsewhere, this one is particularly nice because it does not come with any wagering requirements whatsoever. Any cash you get as a result of this promotion is yours to keep.
Added Bonus: $25 to Try the Casino
Signing up for a Borgata sports betting account will also get you an extra $25 to try the casino. This bonus comes with no deposit necessary – simply signing up and opting in will result in Borgata dropping $25 into your new account. After you sign up for an account, log in and head to the bonus tab to claim your site credit.
Unlike the sportsbook offer, your free casino money does come with wagering requirements. This one has a 15x rollover, which means you must wager $15 for every $1 in bonus money before you’re able to withdraw. In this case, that’s $375 worth of total wagering action to clear the entire bonus. You have three days to clear the whole thing.
Sports Covered and Types of Bets Offered
Borgata Sportsbook is comparable to the other major legal betting sites in terms of sports coverage and types of wagers. You’ll find all the typical US-centric sports leagues, major international leagues and a smattering of individual events such as major boxing matchups.
The full range of sports includes:
Wagering options for each individual event are quite extensive as well. You may not see many markets for any single game when it’s still a day or two out, but you’ll start seeing the wagering options expand in the hours leading up to game time.
Using a recent NBA game as an example, Borgata took all the standard moneyline, point spread and total wagers in addition to dozens of other options for first half/second half outcomes, quarter outcomes, individual player scoring totals, player rebounds and assists, team totals and double results.
You’ll find similar results for other sports as well. Baseball games are covered with the usual game outcomes plus alternate lines, total runs scored by each team and all manner of props such as which team will score first, whether or not there will be extra innings and much more.
The software provider powering the whole operation on the backend (GVC Holdings) has extensive sports betting experience on the international stage and is no stranger to managing a variety of wager types.
The final word on sports covered and bets offered is this: Borgata provides a comprehensive betting experience with all the major sports plus all the major types of wagers. We have no complaints in this regard.
Boosted Bets: Embedded in the main sports navigation menu, you’ll see an item labeled “boosted bets” you can select to see a list of wagers for which Borgata has chosen to enhance the odds.
For example, you might find a player prop for Sunday’s NFL game boosted from +350 to +400 or a golf future’s bet on who will win a major tournament boosted from +8,000 to +10,000.
The wagers chosen for enhanced payouts seem to be random, but it’s worth taking a look every time you log in because the odds are you’ll eventually find something that you can tell offers value.
Borgata Sports Betting App and Interface
Borgata mobile apps are offered for iPhone and Android devices alike. You can run a search for “Borgata sports” in the App Store to find the official app or point your phone’s browser to BorgataSports.com where you’ll be directed to download the app.
Just like the website, the Borgata Sportsbook app takes a minimalist approach to design in favor of making it easy to find what you want. Generous use of white space and simple menus both support that effort.
In our experience, you can tell a mobile app is doing its job well if you don’t even notice it while you’re using it. If you’re busy viewing odds and picking your wagers and never once pay any attention to the app itself, that means the designers have done well in making it unobtrusive and responsive. That pretty much describes the experience we’ve had so far with the Borgata app.

In-Play Betting at Borgata Online
The Borgata in-play betting selection seems a bit undercooked at this point. Borgata does cover a wide variety of events with live betting every day, but the coverage of individual events is a bit lacking. The in-play markets are not particularly unique or varied compared to the competition.
For the most part, the in-play betting options consist of standard full game and part-time wagers. A tennis match for example might offer bets on who will the match, next set and next game. Likewise, a recent hockey game had in-play markets for the point spread and total only.
There is also not much in the way of in-game statistics to keep customers up on what’s happening on the field. The most you’ll get right now is a current update on the score. Compare this to other betting sites that are now showing live representations of the field, complete with batter box info showing where pitches are landing in baseball games and it’s not even fair.
Borgata has some serious work to do if it wants to compete with other licensed betting apps for in-play betting.
Borgata Casino Review
Borgata Casino Online is the product of a joint effort between Atlantic City’s own Borgata and online gaming giant GVC Holdings, first established in 2013. The Borgata has grown tremendously in recent years as the most successful casino in Atlantic City and that success has carried over to its online presence at BorgataCasino.com.
After New Jersey legalized online gambling and poker in 2013, Borgata was one of the first Atlantic City casinos to apply for and receive an internet gaming license from the Division of Gaming Enforcement (you can confirm that license’s status at the DGE website here).
The Borgata online is also the most profitable of New Jersey’s internet casinos according to mandatory monthly financial reports. That suggests that not only is Borgata Online Casino financially stable, but it has the resources to hold regular promotions such as welcome bonuses and rewards programs.

Borgata Casino runs a tiered loyalty program called iRewards designed to reward customers for playing real money games. The more you play, the more loyalty points you earn and the higher up you move through the program. Loyalty points may also be redeemed at the iRewards store for cash, bonuses, electronics and other gifts. At the highest level, you can even earn comped rooms at Borgata Hotel.
All players start at the Red tier in the loyalty program and can move up from there by playing real money casino games and earning points. You may redeem your points for cash at any tier, but as the following chart shows, it grows easier and easier to convert your points into cash as you move up through the VIP levels.
|Loyalty Tier||Points Required||Points for $5 Express Comp||Points for $25 Casino Bonus||Points for $25 Cash|
|Red Plus||150 / month||88||2000||2500|
|Silver||650 / month||75||1400||1560|
|Black||2500 / month||72||1000||1250|
|Black Elite||15,000 / year||66||400||937|
Loyalty points are earned based on money wagered in real money slots, table games, video poker and other games. The terms of iRewards state that points “cannot be accumulated via low-risk bets on Roulette, Single Deck Blackjack or Texas Hold’em Video Poker.”
Here’s how points are won for each game type:
|Game||Wager to Earn 1 Point|
Borgata Casino Game Selection
Borgata Casino’s game selection has its strong and weak points. On the strong side, Borgata has hundreds of slots to choose from. The casino was home to 300+ slots games at last count, each with its own unique style and theme. You’ll find video slots, progressive jackpot games and many others of all different types.
Jackpots are a surprisingly regular occurrence at Borgata Casino so far. Throughout the entirety of 2017, BorgataCasino.com paid out six jackpots ranging in size from $80,000 to $160,000. These results are confirmed by the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement, so we know the payouts are real and did occur as reported.
One of the most stubborn weak points is a lack of table game variety. Despite being online since 2013, Borgata Casino Online is still home to fewer than a dozen table games. The full list of table games includes just the bare-bones basics such as blackjack, craps, roulette and a couple of house-backed poker games.
Overall game quality varies wildly, so it would be fair to classify this trait as both a strength and a weakness. Some of the games look absolutely beautiful with fresh, modern graphics and unique themes that make it obvious serious time and effort was dedicated into each. Other games look badly outdated.
The bottom line is if you like slots, there is almost no doubt you’ll feel right at home at Borgata Casino. Not only do they have a large and varied existing collection, but new slots are released every month. If you value having many table games to choose from, you will be better served trying a different online casino.
Borgata Casino Software
Borgata Casino is compatible with all operating systems and modern smartphones. If you’re at a desktop, you can simply visit BorgataCasino.com to sign up and play through your browser with no download necessary. Borgata once maintained a Windows-based download package for PC users, but ultimately decided to retire that in favor of the no-download browser option. Now, users with PCs, Macs or anything else with an internet connection can play at Borgata Casino.
Mobile users can access Borgata Online as well through a mobile-friendly version of the casino website or by visiting the app store to download the official app. The experience is basically the same whether you play while mobile or from a desktop except the desktop version has a bigger game selection.
My experiences with the desktop and mobile casino options have been mostly positive. Much of the actual experience comes down to the software provider behind any individual game. I found the NetEnt, Williams Interactive and NYX games to be smooth-loading and great looking, while the games by IGT tended to be clunkier, slower and way less impressive in terms of graphics. The good news is there are so many slots to choose from that you can just bounce around from slot to slot to find a nice little collection of your favorites.
One minor annoyance is Borgata Casino requires you to sign up for an account and log in before you can even try the games on demo mode. It would be much more convenient if it was possible to just visit the website and test a few games before going through the trouble to sign up for an account.
Borgata Casino Slots
If we were going to name the one thing Borgata Casino Online does best, slots would be the easy answer. While the casino does lack in table games and video poker, there is no shortage of slots. They have games from all manner of providers that include everything from late-gen video slots that look something you’d see in a Pixar movie to games that look so dated it actually hurts.
The Borgata website offers a couple of sort options to assist in finding certain categories of slots such as new games, jackpot games and a search option if you know the name of the slot you’re looking for. If Borgata continues adding new slots at its current rate, they should really think about adding additional sorting options so players can find slots based on features, paylines, software provider and so on.
Visiting the jackpot slots tab at the Borgata Casino website will take you to a collection of New Jersey’s largest online progressive jackpot games. At the time of this writing, five different slots shared a progressive jackpot in excess of $2.3 million while a number of other smaller games featured jackpots ranging from $1,000 to $45,000.
Table Games and Video Poker
If slots were the strongest point, table games and video poker are the two low points. Borgata has such a small collection of these games that the website just combines table games and videopoker in one section and there still aren’t that many games after that.
In total, there are just eight actual table games and 12 video poker games to choose from. The table games they do have are very nicely done with crisp graphics and easy-to-use interfaces designed by NetEnt. I wish I could say the same for their video poker games, but these look extremely dated.
The full list of table games includes:
- Multi-Hand Blackjack Pro
- European Roulette Pro
- Blackjack (two variations)
- Texas Hold’em Bonus Poker
- Vegas Downtown Blackjack Multi Player
- American Roulette Pro
The video poker selection includes:
- Double Double Bonus Poker
- Triple Play Draw Poker Multi-Hand
- Jacks or Better
- Five Play Draw Poker Multi-Hand
- Bonus Poker
- Double Bonus Poker
- Double Double Regal Poker
- Jester Poker
- Jacks or Better
- Double Regal Poker
- Regal Poker Deluxe
- Deuces Wild
Virtual Sports Betting
And now we move back to a positive point for Borgata Casino. Virtual sports betting first came to New Jersey in 2017 and shortly made their way to Borgata Casino Online. Although this is not true sports betting because it involves betting on fictional simulated games, it feels very similar as you watch virtual horses and athletes compete in front of you in short time-frame matches that keep you in the action day and night.
The graphics are by far better than anything else on the market right now as far as virtual sports go. Recent trailers from the Inspired Entertainment YouTube channel offer a nice preview of what you can expect as a player:
Borgata Casino does not currently offer virtual football, but we expect to see that added any day now. In the meantime, here’s the full list of virtual sports available as of this review:
- Virtual Cars
- Virtual Greyhounds
- Virtual Horses
- Virtual Motorcycles
- Virtual Soccer
Borgata Poker Review
BorgataPoker.com went live in 2013 after New Jersey awarded the famous Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa an online gaming license. Borgata partnered with the company formerly known as bwin.party (now GVC Holdings) to assist in running its online operations. Anyone familiar with the Party Poker name will recognize bwin.party as one of the longest-running and more successful poker sites in the world.
Borgata’s partnership with the same people who started Party Poker back in 2001 and changed the face of online poker speaks well of this poker site’s management team. While Borgata supplies the licensing and US-legal status, GVC Holdings supplies the expertise in running an online poker site. That expertise shows through in the software and the way in which games are run.
Although Borgata Poker is definitely one of the stronger offerings in New Jersey right now, it is not a perfect site. Borgata Poker Online still sits right in the middle of the pack in terms of traffic and the player loyalty program could use some work before it feels truly rewarding. However, the software, game types and welcome bonuses are all commendable.
There are no issues to report regarding safety and security, and we don’t expect that to change. Borgata Poker is owned and operated by the real Borgata in combination with a highly experience international poker site operator. Borgata Poker is fully legal and holds a valid license from the New Jersey Division of Gaming Enforcement.
Borgata Poker Bonus Code
Borgata Poker offers a welcome package to all customers that consist of a $20 signup bonus and a 100% deposit bonus that can be claimed for up to $600 extra. When you sign up for an account at Borgata Poker Online, use the bonus code BONUS600 to claim your welcome offer.
$20 No-Deposit Bonus
You can claim the $20 no-deposit bonus by signing up for an account. After you successfully sign up, Borgata will drop $10 in cash and $10 in poker bonus money to your account. The cash bonus becomes available for withdrawal after earning 1 loyalty point. The bonus money is released for withdrawal after earning 40 loyalty points.
100% up to $600 Deposit Bonus
If you use the bonus code BONUS600 and then make a deposit, Borgata Poker will match it 100% to add an equal amount of bonus funds to your account. This means a deposit of $50 will get you an extra $50, a $100 deposit will get you an extra $100 and so on. You can get up to $600 in bonus funds with this offer.
The bonus funds are released to your cash account in increments of 10% of the bonus amount. This means if you get a $100 bonus, Borgata will release your bonus in $10 increments. The bonus is cleared at a rate of $1 for every 4 loyalty points earned. What this all means is if you get a $100 bonus, it will be released for withdrawal in $10 increments every time you earn 40 loyalty points. If you have a $50 bonus, you would see $5 released for every 20 loyalty points earned.
Claim your poker bonuses at:
VIP Program and Loyalty Points
The loyalty points required to earn out your bonuses are a part of Borgata’s encompassing rewards program. As you play in real money poker games at Borgata, you automatically earn iReward points based on the amount of rake paid.
For every $1 in rake you contribute in cash games, you earn 2 loyalty points. For every $1 in tournament fees, you earn 2 loyalty points as well. Note that tournament fees refer to the extra fee paid on tournaments, not the entire entry fee. Playing a $200+$15 tournament, for example, would get you 30 loyalty points.
As you earn points and move up through the VIP program, you can redeem your points for cash rewards, bonuses and merchandise from the gift store.
Borgata Poker Download
The Borgata Poker download is available on Mac and PC, Android and iOS. Borgata did have a no-download, play-in-your-browser poker client in the past, but they have since retired that option now that they have actual downloads and apps that should work for the vast majority of desktop and mobile players.
The lobby cannot be resized, but tables can be to a degree and the software supports up to four cash or tournament tables at a time. The software is clearly high quality and this is obvious from the minute you run it for the first time. Tables load quickly, it’s easy to see what’s going on thanks to clean table design and games move at a nice, quick pace so you’re not sitting around forever between hands.
Custom avatars are supported so you can customize your look, you can choose four-color decks to make it easier to spot potential flushes and you may save your hand history logs to your computer for later study. The software also supports automatic buyins / rebuys to cash games, you can save your favorite table arrangement and you can choose whether or not tables pop to the front of the line when you’re prompted to act.
The only areas for improvement as far as software goes would be more flexibility in resizing tables and the option to resize the lobby. These are minor issues, however, because tables can be resized to an extent and the lobby isn’t a big deal.
You can visit BorgataPoker.com to download the poker software and see it in action without having to sign up for an account.
Borgata Poker Online hosts no limit Texas holdem, fixed limit holdem and pot-limit Omaha cash games at stakes ranging from $2 buyins at the low end to as high as $5,000 at the high end. Multi-tabling the cash games is easy thanks to stable software that never gave me any issues even after running the software for 8+ hours one morning.
The vast majority of the players congregate at the no-limit Texas Holdem tables. At some points during the day, no limit holdem is the only option due to low traffic at the other game types. Traffic for the other game types really picks up in the evenings and weekends.
Borgata Poker also holds fast-forward cash games. If you’re not familiar with the term, fast-forward poker (also known as “fast fold”) is a Texas holdem variant that moves at a much faster pace than traditional poker cash games, even by online standards.
Whenever you fold a hand in fast-forward poker, you are instantly moved to another table and dealt into a new hand with other players who also just folded at their tables. The players at your first table have no idea you’ve folded until the action gets to you (this prevents players from taking advantage of your early fold). In this way, players are constantly shuffled around and new tables created to keep the action moving constantly.
If you ever get tired of waiting between hands as you fold junk hole cards over and over, fast-forward poker is worth a look. It almost completely eliminates the waiting time between hands so you can spend more time playing poker and less time watching other people play poker. You don’t get as detailed of reads on your opponents, but you do get more opportunities to exploit your edge if you’re profitable because fast-forward runs through many more hands per hour.
Cash game types and limits
- No limit Holdem: $0.01/$0.02 NL to $25/$50 NL
- Fixed limit Holdem: $0.02/$0.04 to $30/$60
- Pot limit Omaha: $0.01/$0.02 PL to $25/$50 PL
- Fast Forward Holdem: $0.05/$0.10 to $0.25/$0.50 (6-handed and heads-up tables)
- Seating options: 6, 9, 10 or heads-up
Borgata Poker Tournaments
Borgata Online runs scheduled and SNG tournaments 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Weekdays can be slow during the day, but things pick up in the evenings and weekends with numerous scheduled events. Borgata hosts multiple freeroll tournaments each day for the micro stakes players with prize pools ranging from $10 to $50. These tournaments offer great value during the day with few people actually competing for a prize.
The biggest regularly-scheduled tournament is the Sunday $40K Guarantee which runs every Sunday at 5 PM EDT with $40,000 guaranteed no matter how many people show up. The Sunday Guarantee comes with a hefty $215 entry fee, but you’ll find multiple satellites the week before on the day itself that you can enter to win your way in at a fraction of the cost. Borgata also holds at least one freeroll qualifier before the big tournament.
Borgata also holds daily $10K guarantees with a $109 buyin and $10,000 on the line. These run every evening at 7 PM EDT. Qualifiers to live events are hosted online at Borgata often as well. For example, Borgata recently held qualifiers for the Party Poker Millions North America tournament featuring a first-place prize of nearly $1.5 million.
Other tournament types include turbos, six-max turbos, satellites to bigger tournaments, deep stack events, pot-limit Omaha tournaments, pot-limit Omaha 8/b events, freerolls, rebuys, bounties and more. Overall, the tournament scene here is diverse and busy. It’s obvious Borgata Poker will have no problems growing along with its player base if New Jersey forms compacts with additional states allowing them all to share players.
In addition to regularly scheduled tournaments, Borgata Poker hosts sit-n-go (SNG) tournaments. The SNG scene isn’t nearly as busy as the scheduled tournament scene, but Borgata does have all the groundwork in place for the future. The software currently supports single table SNGs, multi-table SNGs, step tournaments where you work your way up through a series of tournaments to win a large payout and qualifiers to larger tournaments.
- Daily freerolls with $10 to $50 guaranteed
- Daily $10K guarantee for $109
- Sunday $40K guarantee for $215
- Sunday Mega $15K Tuesdays guarantee for $535
- Sunday Mega $12K Thursdays guarantee for $535
- Freerolls each day
- Smallest actual buyin is $1
- Highest regular tournament buyin is $535
Sit & Go Tournaments
- Single table SNGs: $0.10 to $1,000 with seats for 6, 9 or 10 players
- Multi-table SNGs: $0.10 to $1,000
- Step SNGs: Various buyins
- Satellite SNGs: Various buyins
Majority of the action in the small and micro stakes, but cash game traffic is stronger than expected. Visiting on a Tuesday morning (which is probably one of the worst times for traffic) still showed 90 active players at 169 tables and even had a couple of full 6-handed games of $2.50 / $5.00 NL running. That’s not bad for a Tuesday morning.
New Jersey began sharing tables with Delaware and Nevada on 1 May, 2018, so traffic should only grow from here as more sites are established in all states and hopefully as additional states join the pool. Traffic is better than expected considering Borgata Poker was only available in New Jersey for most of its life so far, but substantial growth is likely as time goes on.
If you played poker during the poker boom back when sites such as Party Poker and Full Tilt had tens of thousands of players online 24/7, know that this won’t be even close to the same. Borgata Online Poker is still a growing poker site and is limited to New Jersey (plus Delaware and Nevada), so you won’t find thousands of players online all the time. Even so, the site has a surprisingly active player base when it comes to cash games.
Tournament traffic still lags behind cash games a bit, but Borgata Poker does maintain an active tournament scene. You won’t have trouble finding tournaments any time of the day or day of the week, but there are definitely some pronounced peak and non-peak hours. Your day time options may be limited to smaller tournaments with lower buyins. Things tend to pick up a lot on the weekends where you’ll have many more options with bigger fields and bigger prize pools.
Casino and Poker Deposit Methods
It has been speculated that some of Borgata’s success in online gaming is based on its variety of effective deposit methods. When online gambling first went live in New Jersey, many credit card issuers were hesitant to approve online gaming transactions due to unclear federal banking laws. Many banks opted to just prohibit all gaming transactions, which in turn sent credit and debit card success rates plummeting.
This was an issue for all New Jersey casinos, but Borgata was one of the most proactive. The casino quickly developed alternative deposit methods to help players get up and running as easily as possible. Debit and credit card acceptance rates have improved across the industry since then, but Borgata still offers a variety of funding methods.
- VIP Preferred: Submit a copy of your driver’s license, bank account and routing number to set up VIP preferred. Once you’re done, you can make instant deposits at Borgata Online any time.
- Online Banking: Use your bank’s existing online bill pay feature to log in, approve Borgata and transfer money directly from your bank to your Borgata account.
Credit Card Deposits
- Visa and MasterCard: Deposit directly to your account with Visa or MasterCard to play for real money. If your deposit is rejected, it may be a bank policy not to approve gambling transactions. In that case, you can still deposit with your credit card using the Prepaid Play+ account or through an e-wallet such as Neteller or Skrill.
- Prepaid Play+ Account: Set up an online Borgata Prepaid Play+ account to make deposits. You can fund your Prepaid Play+ account with a credit card, debit card or bank transfer.
- Neteller: Neteller has been processing online gaming payments for years internationally and in the US. Will Borgata Online Enter Additional States?
There have been no indications the Borgata name itself will enter additional states, but we do know parent company MGM Resorts International certainly has its eyes on entering at least one other state.
The question is whether MGM wants to expand its operations under the Borgata name or under the BetMGM brand – both of which offer sports betting and online gambling in New Jersey. The Borgata name does holds some weight outside of Atlantic City, but so does the MGM brand.
MGM Resorts International is definitely planning to enter Pennsylvania if possible. The online gambling law approved in Pennsylvania created a limited number of licenses to which local casinos were given first dibs. “Qualified gaming entities” from other states were allowed to apply for any leftover licenses, and that is how MGM Resorts made its way into the PA market.
We know MGM Resorts has applied for three different licenses to offer online slots, table games and poker, but not sports betting. Under PA law, out-state-operators may only apply for online gambling licenses. Online sport betting remains the sole domain of Pennsylvania operators. Therefore, if MGM Online is approved in PA, it will only be to offer online casino games.
It is still unknown whether MGM Resorts will enter Pennsylvania under the BetMGM banner, as Borgata Online or something else entirely.
MGM Resorts has given no indication it plans to expand the Borgata name to other states. MGM does operate casinos in Mississippi, Maryland, Michigan, Massachusetts, Nevada and New York, but none of those bear the Borgata name.
If MGM pursues sports betting those other states, it seems unlikely it would choose the Borgata name rather than using the names of its local casinos that are known to residents or even wrapping everything under the broader MGM brand.
