How To Play FanDuel QuickPick Fantasy Contests

FanDuel introduced a new format for daily fantasy contests today called QuickPick. As the name suggests, speed is the name of the game. QuickPick contests do away with the traditional salary cap model altogether in favor of a tiered system that allows you to pick a limited number of players from five different tiers.

With no salary cap to juggle, you’ll find the drafting process much less time-consuming than before. Whether you’re just not into balancing a roster with salary considerations in mind or are simply too busy to deal with it, the QuickPick games should prove handy.

How FanDuel QuickPick Games Work

Entering a FanDuel QuickPick contest starts the same as entering any other contest. Just visit the lobby, head over to the PGA, MLB or NASCAR tab and then use the filter over on the left to narrow down the list of FanDuel contests to QuickPick games only.

Building your lineup is where things become a little different than for other formats. In a traditional fantasy golf contest, for example, this is where you would normally take your virtual $60,000 salary and begin drafting a team of the best possible players while also remaining within your salary cap.

QuickPick games make this part of the process easier because you’re no longer stuck trying to balance your salary while also getting the most value from every player. Instead, you simply pick players from each of five different tiers.

Tier A is where all the premium players are found. Here, you can pick any of the top golfers with absolutely no regard for how much it’s going to cost you. This is where you’ll find the Dustin Johnsons and Justin Roses of the golf world. These are the players who would typically cost the most under the traditional salary cap format.

Tiers B, C and D represent a step down in terms of golfer’s skill. The Tier B players are still good, but not elite. Players from the C and D tiers are each another step down in perceived quality. Finally, there are the players from the Field tier who aren’t quite up to par compared to those in the lettered tiers.

PGA QuickPick lineups consist of six players as follows:

  • Tier A: 1 player
  • Tier B: 1 player
  • Tier C: 1 player
  • Tier D: 1 player
  • Field: 2 players

The rest of the experience is the same as it is for other contest formats. QuickPick games are based on the same scoring rules as other formats, so the learning curve should be quick for anyone already experienced with FanDuel. See our FanDuel Daily Fantasy Sports review for a list of scoring rules for every sport.

If you don’t already have experience with daily fantasy sports, FanDuel’s QuickPick games are a good place to start. Getting started and drafting a lineup is significantly easier due to the simplicity of building each lineup. Not having to consider prices makes for a more streamlined experience that won’t suck up hours of your time calculating who you can afford as you build each lineup.

QuickPick Just the Latest Development at FanDuel

FanDuel has been on a tear lately introducing new game types and even announcing the pending release of a brand-new sportsbook with actual sports betting on offer. Just last month, FanDuel introduced the World Soccer Pick’em promo to celebrate the 2018 World Cup to go along with single-game contests.

The new FanDuel sportsbook will be opening in certain states now that the Supreme Court has cleared the way for individual states to legalize and regulate sports betting. FanDuel has already announced a partnership with the Greenbrier Resort in West Virginia to offer sports betting there and has said it plans to expand further as more states jump on the sports betting bandwagon.

If you’d like to keep up to date on developments, you can visit the FanDuel website, log in to your account and look for the FanDuel Sportsbook notification near the top of the page. There, you can enter your e-mail address and state of residence to receive a notification if and when FanDuel Sportsbook becomes available in your state.
