NBA Continues Sports Betting Integration with NBABets Initiative

NBA launches new sports betting initiative NBABets

As the legal US sports betting industry continues to grow, professional sports leagues are becoming more involved. From data integration deals to partnerships with major sports betting operations, leagues like the NBA continue to associate with the industry in new, interesting ways. Just last week, the league announced a new initiative titled NBABets, producing basketball betting content push connected to the playoffs. The content plan involves a weekly TV show along with a new social media handle.

With NBABets, the league will provide televised content, where players can learn more about sports betting and the league. The first 30-minute weekly television show aired this past Friday and was a bit hit among sports bettors and fans of the NBA. The show will continue to air throughout the first two playoff rounds. There is potential that the program will continue through the Finals if there is enough interest from the public.

BetMGM Data Adds Sports Betting Focus To The NBABet Show

The new television show is titled NBABet presented by BetMGM. The NBA, BetMGM, and Turner Sports worked together to create the live studio show with a sports betting focus. Viewers have access to league-wide betting analysis during the show, along with commentary from industry experts.

BetMGM is the presenting partner of NBABet, so the sports betting operator provides a data feed in the telecast. Fans can catch up on the playoff action and find NBA odds offered by BetMGM while they watch the show.

After announcing the new NBABets initiative, senior vice president of the NBA, Scott Kaufman-Ross, stated that the NBA has consistently felt that sports betting should be an experience that fans should choose to take part in.

And the creation of NBABet gives us the ability to do that. We’ve created an environment in NBABet where we can serve betting content to the fans that want it, while not pushing it to the fans that aren’t interested.”

NBABet Media Partners

The NBA has teamed up with several partners for this new initiative. Turner Sports, Action Network, Yahoo Sports, and Bleacher Report are all involved in the content creation process. According to Kaufman-Ross, teaming up with experienced sports betting companies helps combine expertise and credibility when analyzing, predicting, and providing marketplace value.

NBABets will use third-party experts to create content in several ways. Along with the television show content, the partners will help with content on NBA.com, and the new Twitter social media handle @NBABet.

There will be a special section dedicated to betting on the NBA website, launching during the second round of the playoffs. In addition, Bleacher Report, Yahoo, and The Action Network will provide content on the website for sports fans.

On Twitter, The Action Network will be in charge of running the @NBABet account. The new social media account will be used to promote NBA sports betting. So far, the response to the new Twitter account is underwhelming, with just over 700 followers. However, we expect more followers in the future as the account continues to offer insight into sports betting options involving the league.
