Sportsbook at Parx Casino in Philadelphia is Now Live

Parx Casino in Philadelphia commenced its soft launch today right on schedule as it booked its first wagers. The sportsbook at Parx Casino will operate for the next two days with the Pennsylvania Gaming Control Board (PGCB) on hand to monitor the proceedings. If all goes well, the sportsbook will hold its grand opening ceremony on Thursday at 1 PM.

For now, Parx Casino Sportsbook will operate in a temporary location where the 360 bar once stood. A permanent sportsbook location is under construction near the upcoming Beer Garden and should be ready to go by this summer.

A video posted by the Parx Casino Twitter account shows a sleek sportsbook in operation right now, complete with video walls and active sports betting tellers: reported this afternoon that the first official wager at Parx Casino Sportsbook was made by a man from Bensalem who wagered $50 that the point total in the Eagles vs. Saints game will be greater than 50 points.

The sportsbook will have the following hours of operation once it receives the final go-ahead from the PGCB:

  • Mondays: 1 PM to 12 AM
  • Tuesdays-Fridays: 1 PM to 1 AM
  • Saturdays: 9 AM to 1 AM
  • Sundays: 9 AM to 12 AM

The sportsbook at Parx Casino will cover a wide range of professional and college sports throughout the year. According to the Parx Website, all the major sports will be covered. Just a few examples from the Parx website include:

  • MLB
  • NFL
  • NHL
  • NBA
  • Soccer

  • Tennis

Also from the Parx website, we can find a sampling of the types of wagers that will be offered going forward:

  • Straight bets

  • Parlays
  • Teasers
  • In-play betting

Greenwood Gaming & Entertainment, which operates Parx Casino, is also planning to launch sports betting at its South Philadelphia Turf Club and Valley Forge Turf Club locations. No timeline has been issued on the launch of sportsbook at Valley Forge, but reports the South Philadelphia Turf Club is scheduled to launch sports betting on January 15th.

More Details on Mobile Betting

Parx Casino confirmed quite a while ago that it would be offering mobile betting in PA. That’s still a work in progress, but the Parx website does say online and mobile sports betting is “close to launch.”

Additionally, Parx Casino is in the process of rolling out the Betslip Builder app. With this app, patrons can fill out betting slips ahead of time and then present them to sportsbook tellers or kiosks for faster service. An early version of the Betslip Builder can be seen here, complete with up-to-date odds and a large menu of betting options.

A look through the Betslip Builder interface shows Parx Casino will be taking a wide range of wagers, with even individual NFL games boasting 100+ bets available. Just a handful of the options for the Eagles-Saints game alone include money lines, multiple point spreads, multiple point totals, props such as will the game go into overtime, winning margin, whether or not certain players will score touchdowns and much more.

In all, Parx Casino customers will have a variety of methods to interact with the new sportsbook. Options for placing bets include visiting the sportsbook in-person to fill out a betting slip, using one of the kiosks located inside the casino, placing bets from anywhere inside Pennsylvania through the upcoming mobile app or by using the Betslip Builder to construct betting slips that can be scanned at the casino.
